hi guys
i have a 1992 plymouth laser rs awd with the stock 14g turbo and was boosting 18psi and i have been getting bad lag right when my tubro spools, these are the mods i have so far
Head redone with all new gaskets, oil pump, timeing belt, tensioner, idler pulleys, new water pump and gaskets. Crower 272 Cams just put in. Evo Lifters. 3" Exhaust out the side. Taylor Wires. B & M Fuel Pressure Regulator, Big Intercooler with 2 1/2 " pipeing.
all my buddies tell me i need my ecu flashed and reprogramed to all the mods, but acouple say it may be the fuel injectors?
I'm open to anything guys please help!

Do you have a upgraded fuel pump or any fuel mods? If your boosting 18 psi on stock fuel with cams you should be hitting fuel cut pretty hard. You should definitely check your intake system for boost leaks that could be a big problem with your spool up issues.

thats what my buddy said he was talking about the govener on my fuel intake and that the flash should fix that but whats the best way to check for boost leaks

Go to vfaq.com and on there it tells you how to make one there pretty simple. All they basically are is a silicone coupler with a pvc end cap in one end with a bicycle valve in the end of it. You clamp it on to your intake side of your turbo and fill it up with an air compressor to what ever psi you will be running on your car. you will here the air hissing out of any leaks.

DSM ECU's are not flashable. An AFC or DSMlink is what you'll need to tune. Of course there are other programs, but those are the most common. Fuel injectors have nothing to do with lag.

Hitting fuel cut has nothing to due with lack of fuel. Fuel-cut is an airflow problem. Which if he had a boost leak, that would happen. Or a over-run/faulty MAF. He may have a boost leak and that's what I suspect. Or a faulty waste-gate. If anything, on his stock fuel-system, he's running pretty lean.

I'm pretty lost here. "Govener on fuel intake"? Again, if you're speaking of your ECU, yes, a tune is a good thing, but not a major cause of lag. Unless your shit-rich and in timing retard at spool RPMs.

Indeed. Also, you can spray a touch of soapy water around your couplers to help aid you in finding leaks.

1st- check for boost leaks.
2nd-DSM ecu's cannot be 'flashed', there are other options such as SAFC's, DSMlink, and standalone systems.
3rd- You need to get a wideband O2 gauge, and a logger of some sort, so you can find out what's going on under your hood.

At 18psi, on the stock fuel pump, injectors, and with no tuning system, your going to be running out of fuel. You need to get some way to monitor your injector duty cycles and your mixture. Until you know what's going on with those two things, you need to turn your boost down, or you risk a host of issues.

*edit* basically, +1 on what Reggie said, he just beat me to it.

so if i find a boost leak how can i fix it, like take it in to a shop? and will buying a better fuel pump help aswell, cause i don't want this to happen again any suggestions of the model of fuel pump i should buy, and if the problem is the wastegate how can i fix that? sorry guys im very new to the turbo world LOL
