Ok here is the deal.

long time ago i was a retarded and ran to lean on piston #4 so now my compression is 165 150 150 135. I know its my rings because i put oil in and it shot right back up. So when it finally gets warm enough outside i plan on reringing all 4 pistons but my biggest concern is what are the chances the block or something else is damaged.

All 4 pistons are above the factory service limit so i didnt do THAT much damage but since there is more then a 10% difference in all of the pistons its running rough. My idle is OK but if i rev it up past 2k and let it drop it will go down to 500 rpm stutter and jump back up.

The car only has 60k miles on it so everything is in pretty good shape. So i need to know worse case senerio best case and just details in general of what i could run into and what the chances of those happening are.

YES i know you cant tell me exactly what is wrong, i wont really know untill the head comes off but i want to at least get as much input as i can so i am prepared for the worst.

Cliff notes:

Compression 165 - 150 - 150 - 135
i know its the rings
plan on reringing come spring
want to know more details about what could go bad / good

Thanks in advance guys

I like the Cliff notes at the end.

Really, you won't know until you pull the head off, and even then you won't really know until you remove the piston. If you still have pretty good compression, then you probably just have a nice worn ring. However, if you did a good number on the rings it could have eaten up the cylinder wall. If this did happen though, you probably wouldn't have such 'good' compression.

Yea if you broke a ring or a ring land your compression would be real low you would know it.
If your just going to replace the rings give each cylinder a light ball hone with WD-40 to get the glaze off the walls. I would also do the rod bearings while everything is appart.

With only 60k on the motor I would'nt plan on doing any bearings right now unless they look bad when they are out, but then again you will have it apart and they are not that much money. As far as the idle dropping and then picking back up, that really dont have anything to do with worn rings, I would say that you have tune up/boost leak issues or even an ecu going on you. I dont know that I would even pull the engine apart right now if the compression is within mitsu's limits. The 10% across the bores is'nt carved in stone and would'nt make me pull apart a 60k engine unless you have other known problems inside.:dsm:

well i know the problem is inside, and i know there arent any boost leaks. A tune up has been done, the ECU could every well be the problem but i'm thinking since the compression is all over the place its making the engine stumble over itself.

As far as the bearings are those simply pop in pop out or do i have to get a machine shop involved to balance them or w/e needs to be do needs to be done

thanks man

The bearings are generally a pop in and pop out thing, unless you notice any crank damage which with 60k I highly doubt that will happen.:dsm:
