The problem is....whenever I shift from 1st into 2nd or from 2nd into 3rd I hear this annyoing rattling sound. You can't hear it from inside the car, only from the outside with the windows open. The rattling goes away after 4000rpms.

My Ford Taurus has this problem as well. Does anybody know what's wrong?

No, it rattles only when the car's in gear.

i had the same problem in my car... found it thought underneath the passenger headlight there was a metal bracket that holds the bumper down, took off the headlight and tightened the screws down...............went away for awhile but now it is back  i would check by the headlights and if it is that bracket take it off it is not needed.... and if its n ot that check the tranny fluid :thumb:

if your car has an upgraded exhaust jack the car up and check the piping it might be touching some where my car has the same problem

Get under the car and make sure nothing is hitting your exhaust. there are a few heat sheilds under there that could have come loose

I'll make sure to check that. I think perhaps changing the tranny fluid might help. I'll see. It doesn't bother me as much as lifter tick.

Well, I don't think there's anything hitting the exhaust. And I don't think there's anything wrong with the headlights.....

I noticed that when I push the gas pedal deeper in the rattling gets louder and more rapid. But as soon as I let go of the gas pedal the rattling stops. So the problem is tranny related but what's wrong????
