When i turn the key into acc mode (the one before the engine turns on) there is a clicking noise from the engine compartment. I opened the hod and thought it was coming from the throttle body area but wasn't sure. After i fired the car up and drove it around it was fine when i turned it to acc again.

Is this a bad ecu, i hope not. What is it?

If it were the ecu it would be clicking inside the car, not under the hood. Its behind your radio, if the clicking is coming from there Id bet its the ecu. But if it was coming frm under the hood in acc mode it could be some relay or fuse in there doing it, but it being phantom like that I dont think its either of those. I dunno man, maybe someone else has had the problem before and can shed more light.

A clicking coming from under the hood near the throttle body, I would say starter, it is located under the throttle body on the back of the block. However, I do not know why it would be doing that in the ACC mode though.

I have the same problem... I think its because I got Throttle body cleaner in the little openings that your NOT supposed to get throttle body cleaner in.... Like said above, its the IAC motor... Im just gonna run mine til it dies.

I had the same issue but only after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. I never thought much of it as each time there is no CEL thrown and everything runs as normal. I have that rapid clicking though everytime the battery is disconnected to do work.

Thanks guys. Where is this IAC motor, i am going to the junkyard on friday and getting a ton of stuff.

So...i'm bringing it back from the dead...

I just replaced my fuel filter and reinstalled everything. I go and I'm getting this EXACT clicking.
Now my question is....is it ok to drive like that? I mean hell arent our cars in ACC after they've been started? So technically they would be clicking while we're driving we just can't hear it because of the engine noise....am I correct?

I still haven't gotten around to fixing it, and the car is still fine.

Idle is a little messed up sometimes
-it will surge occasionally
-the temperature basically decides the idle speed until the underhood temps are normally where they are. Cold=fast warm=normal
