Vacuum at idle is 15-17. Spark plugs are bpr7es gapped to .028. New throttle body gasket, new gaskets pretty much all throughout the motor. Car runs immaculate and never bogs or anything. Sometimes when I am in neutral coming to a stop it will die, but, I can fire it right up. I am not really worried, but, it is my d.d. and I commute about 100 miles every few weekends. Could it be my alternator on its way out? It fluctuates from 12-14 volts. One day it will be 14 and the next day about 12.5. It's never consistent, which makes me think the regulator is going bad. Idk?

You should be seeing around 20 in/Hg at idle, I'm putting my money on a vacuum leak. Unless you have aftermarket cams, but your profile says stock.

Do a boost leak test, come back with results and we can diagnose from there. Just fyi I really doubt it's an alternator at this point but after testing the easier stuff it might be suspect.

I have same problem that why I posted.I have no boost leak checked .one thing I come to to no owning a dsm is no other dsm guy wants to help just post something smart ass .sorry not everone is the same smarts.

I'd definitely say a boost/vacuum leak. How did you do your boost leak test? How many psi did it hold?

We are all here to help, this is a great online community. Just make sure you search before posting!

A boost leak test should be the first thing you do after installing new gaskets on your TB, or do anything different with your piping.

Dude are you drunk. Do you know how to spell? or make complete sentences

I did a boost leak test. I know a lot about these cars, I just like to get others input. Makes it easier on me ya know? My vacuum at idle is 17, sometimes will sit at 16 or 15 but I feel its normal to fluctuate a bit. Once I've been driving for 10-15minutes it will be a constant 17. My car idles around 800-900, the Tps pigtail is bad and I haven't had the time to solder in the new one. It only dies on me maybe once every two weeks. The only leak I have is maybe the injector seals, which I plan to replace once I have more time (college student).

I need to solder it, and I live 100 miles from home. I realize how long it takes. I'm gonna do it over winter break. But, thanks for the helpful tip.

You have to think what lets air into the engine when you come to a complete stop? The ISC motor and biss screw. I promise if you take the isc motor off and clean it with brake cleaner it'll cure it. A vacuum leak that big will cause your car to run like crap,And idle HIGH. Get it off and clean it.

Ya, I already posted how it runs mint and idles mint. But, I can clean that. Maybe the o ring is shot on the isc causing a small leak. Biss screw doesn't leak.

What happens is carbon jams and cloggs the isc from opening causing no air to reach the engine. The o-ring should be fine, but at your will change it anyway. But I promise it'll work.

I should try and do that tomorrow. It's only getting colder. I don't want to deal with a stuck isc in the dead of winter. Thanks for the advice man.

If you're getting no TPS signal, that could definitely cause it too. Fix that, clean your ISC as suggested and if you still have the problem replace those seals.

Test your ISC too after cleaning it.

Ya, I forget, is it 1to2 2to3 3to4 4to5 and 5to6. And they should all ready .028 to .032 volts? Can't remember exactly, been a while. What would be a good site to go ahead and get new o-rings and injector seals for my stock 450's?? Thanks guys.

Burrowz, you're the shit man. Thanks again. By the way, what would you prefer to use as thread locker when I go to swap in a new trans/transfer case? I don't think you'd want to use the red kind b/c I know you have to use a torch to get the bolts out if you do.
