OK first i would like to say I have been searching for my solution to this, but i guess i'm just not that good at searching. Any help would be greatly appreciated. now my problem is I'm getting random loss of power like it's not getting boost. It does it in any gear wether i'm getting on it or driving normal. I thought maybe my cat was bad and had that cleaned out and gutted but did not help. I changed plugs and wires, which seemed to help but didnt fix it. The only think i can think of is my knock sensor is hearing my lifter tick and pulling my timing. I jus feel like if it was something like this i would get a CEL. I'm just hoping someone has been through this and can point me in the right direction. luv2rally suggested it might be my TB shaft seals, but would that really make me loose that much power? when it does it it's very noticible the exhaust sounds diffrent and it doesnt put you back in the seat like normal. I'm also only getting around 200 miles on a tank. I hope i dont get flamed for this as i'm kinda new to dsm's, but i love um. again sorry for the long post and not searching properly i guess but i cant find anything that sounds like the problem i'm having.... any help is very much appreciated.

I've got a coupler made to do a BLT I jus dont have a air compressor to test it yet, and yes i changed the fuel filter when i first got it.but fuel is what i'm thinking the problem is. because my boost gauge is installed at the FPR. and it always stays around 12. sometimes goes up to 15 when i really get on it. but when it does do this "power loss" my narrow band a/f ratio gauge doesnt act right. like only 2 bars will be lit up and not the last 2. I dunno really need a wideband, but I will get that BLT done asap and post what i find. even if i got to go to a gas station and use the pay air pump LOL. thanks for the input.

yeah i want to do one bad. I'm sure somethings gonna show up. I'm going to very closely check the TB. SMIC and tubing and the FPR. But if it was a Boost leak wouldnt it do it all the time? like sometimes i can drive it for 10 to 20 miles before it ever does it, and it runs like a champ. and i forgot to mention if it's really hot and does this the idle goes up to around 1800 and goes up and down. I think thats a diffrent problem though, and it very rarely does it. I'm also planning to have a shop compression test it soon.

I've been thinking thats a possibility too. sometimes after i cut my car off for about ten minutes it does a weird humming type sound coming from the fuel pump area. i dont know if this is normal or not but figured i'd mention it.

Ok done a BLT this morning and it was leaking horribly at the TB where the spring is to the accelerator cable. couldnt barely get it to 10 psi. but i also saw there was air coming out of the bov return line. I also forgot to open the Throttle plate when i charged it up. but when i put my hand over the bov return line it went up and the cap poped off my coupler the only thing that was holding it was silicone. so gonna make a new one and try again. but I couldnt find but one mark on my crank pully so i just turned it till the marks on my cam marks met each other.

Ok i got my TB out and started taking it apart to get to the shaft seals and one of the screw heads stripped out. (one that holds the TP on the shaft. anyway does anyone know of a good replacment TB. I would much rather just put on a new one and call it a day. thanks again

Id look for a NT TB that you can have Steve at throttlebodys.com reman for you. He does excellent work, has awesome customer service, and his turn around time is really good. The reason behind the NT TB is because it can be bored to the same size as the other OEM options, and it has one less gasket to leak from when installed.

I got a BBK TB on the way. I jus hope this fixes the problem i've been having. i need to look up some info on what to do with the coolant lines and the IAC since it's deleted on the BBK. any links for that kind of info would be great.

Ok got the BBK on and found out my accelerator cable was a little too tight on it not letting it close quite all the way. so i adjusted the slide thats right behind the manifold untill it let the TB close all the way. now it's idling perfect and i can tell a slight pickup from the TB. But it's still holding back on me sometimes. Ive also noticed the boost goes up to 15 and doesnt go back to 12 when it's doing this. When i was doing the BLT there was also a lot of air coming out the BOV rec hose. any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. It also still seems to be using a lot of gas too.

You need some sort of tuning... What size are the injectors and fuel pump? Also what is the condition of the MAF, does the turbo have slot of shaft play, what is ## A/F ratio at wide open throttle, does the motor have good compression? There are several reasons this could be happening.

It's mostly stock so stock fuel pump and injectors. but i'm running a crappy narrowband so i dont know the exact a/f ratio. the MAF seems good but i dont know 4 sure. when i unplug it it idles rough then if i plug it back in it idles right. have not had a compression test done but will be soon. thanks for any advice. and when i'm doing my boost leak test should there be air coming out of the recirc pipe? last time i noticed if i put my hand over it it would build up pressure faster. also using the crappy stock BOV. thanks again.

Loss of power is due to boost leak and/or retarding of timing.

You have a narrowband, that is practically useless.

You need a way to tune & a wideband. We can not guess anything more or better than what we have. Numbers thru the tuning program are much more familar to some of us :D

Also, the stock 2g bov is plastic & is known to leak anything past 8 psi. So I would suggest buying a stock TB & a stock 1g bov.
