I actually just think that this picture is incredibly bad ass looking, so I thought I'd share --

Anyway, this has been the last RallyX of the year for the Detroit Region SCCA. The course was very slick and muddy in the morning, and dried up in the afternoon. The only one who seemed to be doing well in the mud was a Jeep Cherokee, with...well... mud tires, putting down times 10 seconds (on a 70-80 second course) ahead of everyone else. As much as I've tried to catch up to him in the afternoon, it was not enough. I am still happy with a respectable 2nd overall (rallyX is scored by adding the times for all the runs of the day, much like a stage rally) fastest time.

The car ran great, handled great, and was generally a blast to drive! For anyone who still hasn't tried this, I highly encourage it :)

How do you get started in something like that? Im in the Southeastern region and been Looking at the SCCA autocross events for next year and havent seen anything like that, I have 2 DSMs and I WOULD LOVE to tear through a Rally course with one. :thumb: Pictures look ridiculously good.

Very nice.. Next time tho make some 1920x1200 pictures! They'd make great 1g wallpapers.
BTW WTF? Rallying a freaking SUV? ROFL

Your local SCCA chapter. Find their website and see if they put on any rallyX events in your area. You can run pretty much any car that's safe to drive on the street and don't need any special safety equipment except a helmet (99% of the time, the club will have loaners you can use).

Actually - Tarheel Sports Car Club -- RallyCross

SCCA - Sports Car Club of America

I've been looking more into the Road Rally which still looks like it'd be fun - just without the mud/dirt.

Road rallies are a blast! They can be on dirt as well, we have some pretty "gnarly" ones around here, including POR (Press On Regardless) which is the longest running Rally in the US (60+ years!).

This is the biggest one http://www.clutchpics.com/Motorsports/Rally-Cross/Keepers/IMG2279a/732898319_GbTve-X2-3.jpg

You can rally anything :)

Oh, and these pictures better surface again when the next calendar submission thread appears in 2010 :thumb:

Thanks! That's the plan, I'm sure I'll have some better ones from the stages as well.

Your car can get filthy during a road rally as well if it's county roads :D

I'll be there, but just spectating/talking to people. I am however running the SandBlast rally in SC a week later.

Keep an eye on the RoadRacing/AutoX section of xceedspeed.com and on the detroit-scca.org site for local RallyX events, then come say hey!

Let me know if you guys are throwing out any 1g DSM parts, I need spares... mostly control arms, axles, shocks...etc.

Ahh too bad you won't be running in sno-drift. Those pics are great though. For those who aren't Michigan people, we put kainam00's car as our front cover for our 2010 Calendar www.midsm.com

I remember watching dsms as a kid taking on the sno-drift being that I grew up in Atlanta/Lewiston where it is held every year. It was neat when the evo's started showing up (there were always some older evo's from time to time, didn't know what they were back then). Not as many dsms anymore but we still see a few.

RallyAmerica isn't very welcoming to people starting out in AWD Turbo cars, so I'll run Sno*Drift once I have a few stage rallies under my belt. The plan is 2011 :) I love the rally as well, and this will be my 4th year going up there.

your cars so sick! haha ive always loved rally but didnt think of doing it with my talon! im so down now

Had to bump this. Excellent pictures and looks like a blast. I've taken my old 94 Accord through the mud a few times and loved it. As I drove back on base after one event the gate guard looked at me and looked at the car and said...

"You got a spot of paint back there"

I laughed and drove off. I loved it.
