I am not sure why but when i turn on my radio it shuts off on me. Its a JVC head unit. When i turn it on it will work for a min or so and then it will just shut off and turn back on. When it shuts off its for a good 5 seconds. I fixed all the wiring. The kid that had it before me did a horrible job so i soldered them and used electrical tape. The only thing i can think of is that the head unit is junk but i want to make sure before i go and buy a new one.

Be sure to check the wiring going to each speaker.
I had a short in my left rear speaker wire, and that caused my factory and aftermarket decks to shut off randomly when that wire shorted out.

Had the same issue here. Turned out to be the main ground on the starter bolt on the transmission.

I must say i feel really stupid. My car is a project and its up on blocks and it runs but i guess the battery was drained down.. I figured it out when i had it on today after puting on another ground and i watched the interior lights dim when the cd player shut off and came back on. So i charged up the battery and its better, it still does it but maybe i have to charge up the battery more.

make sure its not your alternator as well...had this problem before thought it was the battery, so i charged the battery.....started doing it again checked the alternator and sure enough was hardly putting out any power!
