Radiator shifted to the back.

Seen many times on road and race cars where the radiator gets shifted to the rear of the car. how is this done?anyone tried it b4 and would it cause any side effects?just qurious on why some ppl have done this....

On those car, the motor is behind the driver. That is why the radiator is in the back. You cannot do that with our cars.

I know of the Dent Sport Garage 240SX with the radiator where the trunk used to be, aside from less weight in the nose, I don't really know the benefits

The benefits are two-fold: weight off the nose and better airflow for a FMIC.

The costs are also two-fold: more total weight and less airflow for the radiator (unless you go to extremes).

I considered doing this to my car (mostly for sh*ts & g*ggles), but could not come up with a way to get anywhere near enough air to the radiator without breaking the SCCA's SM rules.

Alot of D1 guys place their radiator on the sides of their cars, Alot of the cars time is being sideways so more air hits the side of the car rather than the front. And when I mean sides of their cars I mean INSIDE behind the driver with vents on the back quarterpanels. Don't ask me how I know this because to me D1 is rated right around where nascar rates in automotive sports =G.A.Y. Give me some WRC, F1, Sportsman, NHRA DRAG, or Timeattack coverage and I'm there.

Some people add a radiator in the rear to aid cooling in cars with borderline cooling systems, i.e. DSM's. Rusherracing's car has one.

i saw this mag about a yellow evo6 with his rad shifter to the back, he had to do this because of the massive turbo he was using.i was quite tempeted to do this but worries me though on the cooling.i've seen the toyota MRS with the engine back and the rad front, they basically run the stock pump(belt driven) and use smaller diameter piping to the rad in frnt.
