Now that I finished my 1g build, I became very unsatisfied. I bought every go fast add on, and I was at Stage 3 in upgrades. When it was all said and done, it wasn't what I wanted. So I'm taking a step back. What soured it for me was the massive vibrations that the prothane bushings had. I was not prepared for that, and I just couldn't get used to it. It just wasn't for me. So I bought another car. I bought a 98 Talon, and I am going to fix this up with just basic go fast stuff. My goal with this car is just to be seen and not heard. What addons can I do that stock ECM can handle?

If you aren't interested in doing any sort of engine management then there is very little you can do. Sorry, but it's true, some sort of fuel management is one of, if not THE most important supporting mod on these cars.
 
How fast did you want to go and what is all done to the car, and before installing the bushing you should have checked around or asked if there would be bad vibrations. My 1990 tsi have BSE, mounts, and 272 cam's. There's alot of vibration but i know my power is getting to the ground because the motor can't slop back and forth.
 
With the stock ECU and stock injectors you will be limited to about 270 shaft horsepower. You can reach that limit with basic breathing options such as a 3" turbo back exhaust, upgraded air filter, upper intercooler pipe and a 1G BOV.

If the car is an unmodified survivor don't forget to replace all the rubber parts such as belts and hoses.

My plan now is to have a basic stock turbo car, with a hint of add ons that wont require any more fuel, any extra fuel management. Now, I've had my days of going fast. Everyone has. I thought I was interest a high horsepower high torque 12 sec car. That's not really what I wanted. So, without having to do any engine management, I plan to keep my 3" turbo back exhaust and just cruise it.
 
If you wanna go fast and not be heard, then turn your car off and push it off a cliff, I'm sure it'll reach maximum velocity before it crashed.

You have a 3" exhaust but you don't wanna be heard? Shouldn't you be looking at a stock exhaust then. Also, if you don't want to do any management just leave it stock. If your go fast days are over then why are you posting on here looking for modifications?

I'm just confused by your tactics. Also, if you had a fully built first gen, wouldn't you know whatmods would require tuning and fuel management?
 
Honestly if I were you I'd stay stock exhaust, get some 550's or something and an EPROM chip for them, mbc, and keep most everything else stock. That way it's quiet, quick, and you don't have to do much else to it other than maintenance.
 
I guess my demands and requirements for what I'm looking for are different than most here.

Im pretty much looking for same thing, my previous dsm was heavily modded, besides it breaking every other day i told myself this is not what i want. Im now looking for a clean stock dsm, which i plan on keeping mostly stock just because im in love with dsms but also want that comfort not major performance. So i know where your coming from Greg.
 
:idontknow: Need something to adjust tune.

Ooops woooop when running with a stock ECU as the OP says, or even with an EPROM as suggested by juanpac0 no tuning device is required.

For example my Talon has 720 injectors and an EPROM burned by Dsmchips, no other tuning device needed.
