okay this car is a wiring nightmare! i buy this car for 2k with a blown clutch. well i put a fmic on and now the car likes to over heat. i have two slim line fans. i turn the heat on level 1 so that they both will run at the same time. well they sometimes stay on, and they somtimes just feel like being a bi*** and shut off. well them shutting off is causing me to have a overheating problem. i hear a relay clicking on and clicking off but cant find it. i have two 91 awd's and i have swaped EVERY radiator relay from one car to the other. it works fine on the good awd but when i put it in the one with the fan problem is doesnt work. im completly stumped. i have this nice clean 1ga awd and cant drive it becuase of this problem.

thanks for the help tuners
david

the problem is because the fans wont stay on. i have a new thermostat, and water pump. i noticed that my cooling fans would just cut on and cut off with the A/C ON! i hear a relay clicking in the engine bay but i cant find it.

well i have two 91 awd dsm's. ones a beater and ones a weekend/nice day car. i swaped every relay from the beater to the weekend car and the damn thing still wants to have a mind of its own and turn on and off when it pleases. i also swaped out the ballast that goes on the stock a/c fan. im starting to run out of idea's. the only thing i know is that when ever they turn on and turn off i hear something clicking on the firewall.

thanks
david

Couldn't you just rewire the fans to a constant power source? I think squeak104 had something when he said that the ECU controls them.

thats what im thinking i want to do but everyone who asks gets flamed because you need to turn the switch off when you turn your car off. someone should draw me some wiring diagram to wire both fans to 1 switch straight to the battery!

thanks
david

There. The fans will even turn off automatically when you turn your car off.

Make sure to use some heavy wire when hooking these up; 18 gauge should be alright. A fuse in there wouldn't be a bad idea either.

first off thanks for the help guys,

anways tell me if this could work. i would like to run two switches for both of the fans inside my car. run 12v from the battery to a fuse, from the fuse run a wire to a switch inside the car, from the switch run a wire to the cooling fans, ground the cooling fan wire? could that work? i guess if it doesnt it will just pop a fuse. what size fuse should i use?

thanks
david
