Okay so as the title reads i have a couple issues that i feel are because of the rad. fan.

Driving on the freeway about 4 days ago when I started to see my coolant and battery light slightly start to turn on. As that was happening i noticed that my temp gauge was steadily climbing to the hot side. Before it got too hot i pulled off the freeway and luckily found a car shop because I was kind of in the middle of no where. Checked the coolant level and added a little more but it was suppper hot! Hoses were extremely hot too. The guys at the shop and I noticed that when the car was started the radiator fan wouldn't turn on at all. Started checking all the fuses and they were good. Checked the actual switch relay to the fan located pretty much on/next to the fan and that fuse was good leaving me to believe that the actual fan was broken. I have ordered a new fan assembly and just waiting for it to come in.
By the way I dont have the AC fan anymore because of my FMIC piping so I'm running the stock single fan from 20 years ago...

MY QUESTION IS, are the coolant and battery lights on because of the bad fan? And also I have noticed that my power steering seems to have gone out the window (note that power steering was already going bad before this incident but now its completely gone.) Could this be all because of the bad fan? Thanks!!!!!!!!!

I had a problem with my radiator fan recently myself so I feel what you are going thru. There is one critical step that you forgot to do is diagnosis. What i did for my fan is used jumper wire from the fan to the battery. If the fan motor comes on that means the fan is still good if not then replace the fan motor. Also if the fan motor is working from the battery and not when it is connected to its connector then its a possibility that it could be the coolant temp sensor is bad. Also check to see if your thermostat is working by touching the upper radiator hose after the engine has idled a few minutes. If it doesnt get warm then you have a faulty thermostat. I hope this helps. As far as your power steering problem i'm not sure and it could be another problem.

I just went through the whole fan thing. I had a bad thermostat. So that might be your problem. Are the upper and lower hoses hot? If the bottom one is cold you have a bad thermostat. As for the lights. My radiator and battery light are on and someone suggested to me that my alternator is going bad. I havnt replaced it yet. I will let you know when I do.

Hoses have been replaced recently and they are warm after idling for a few minutes. I was going to try using a jumper wire to battery but I was pretty far from home and had to tow it.

So if the coolant temp sensor is bad then it could make the fan not work, right? thanks

Just changed my alternator and battery a month ago. Lights only started coming on when the car started to over heat on the freeway. They are on now every time i start it now too.
