OK, so I have been trying to trouble shoot why my car tends to overheat sometimes, and I have nailed it down to the fact that my new Slimline radiator fan from slowboyracing isn't turning on.

The fan works perfectly, I just don't have it connected to the right wires.

There are only two wires coming out of the fan (blue-power, black-ground), but there are four wires in the harness for the original stock fan.

My question to anyone who knows for sure is: What wires do I need to connect to, to get the fan to power up properly?? I looked on vfaq, and it said the black/white and blue/white wires, but this is not working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Any reason you changed into a Slimline fan? The stock fans are great to begin with. My best friend installed a Fluidyne radiator and kept his stock fan. His temps never even reach halfway. This would be good with a FMIC setup since alot of them block incoming air intended for the radiator.

Keep us posted on your progress. Goodluck.

Should be the blue and black wire, do you know that the fans are not coming on? Those fans are setup as push fans when you get them, if they are coming on reverse the wires and see if that fixes your problem.

well, i know the radiator fan isn't turning on because i can have the car running at operating temp, and watch the temp needle rise w/o having the passenger side fan kick on.

I (annoyingly) have to keep turning on the A/C fan to cool down the radiator.

Anyone know what wires i have to tap for the passenger side fan?

I switched to a slimline A/C fan because my external wastegate was in teh way for the stocker. I decided to switch the radiator one over because the slimline fans flow a ton of air, and it freed up some room in the engine bay.

I don't think it's the relay, because i tried putting the stock fan back on to check, and it worked fine.

I'm trying a different setup with the wires this afternoon, i'll let you know how it works out.

Steve,

The picture below is of my slim-line fan wired to my stock rad fan harness. The black and blue wires from the fan got connected to the matching black and blue wires in my harness. The smaller guage green and black wires are for the rad temp sensor plug that is in the bottom of the radiator. I installed this fan thinking it would help keep my temps cooler for the summer months but soon found out that it doesn't work half as well as the stock rad fan with a bigger shroud. IMHO, use the stock rad fan if it still fits, and the slim-line as a pusher fan in front of the AC condenser for a little extra flow.

See, that's the thing why I'm so confused... The wiring harness for my fan has four wires like everyone elses, but the wierd thing is that ALL FOUR of the wires go into the fan, and none of them go to any plug on the bottom of the radiator. Both of the fans were like this. Is this a 2g thing?

OH man, Im sorry Steve, my pic didn't help you out. It sounds like a 2G thing. I just called my buddy at work and asked him to take a look at the fans in his 99 GST and like you he has 4 wires into the fan. I have no idea how those wires control the fans in a 2G.
Sorry i couldn't help you out more. maybe tomorrow morning i can try to get a close-up pic of his fan wiring harness to see if your wire colors match. Would that help?

yeah im having same problem too, one 1250cfm fan for passenger side (primary fan) and one stock a/c fan for driver's side. Maybe i need to throw a heatshield back on. Maybe i need to wire fans together. I noticed that the a/c fan kept going after i turned a/c off is that normal, i thought it only came on when a/c was on. I dont want to invest another 70.00 into another1250 cfm slimline fan for the a/c fan if overheating will become an issue.
