I was cleaning my car today and decided to check to make sure my rad fan was working. I have a tdo4hl turbo, so my drivers side (ac?) fan is removed. Now I thought my rad fan was supposed to come on when I turned my ac on, but it didn't. I took the car for a short drive and got it up to operating temp. (if I had to describe where the needle was, I would say it's right below the ~ looking symbol on the gauge). I popped the hood and saw the fan was still not on, and didn't come on with the ac still. Is this something that only comes on when it gets hot or what? I left it on for a few more mins at idle just watching it, and still nothing happened. I do plan on getting a moshimoto rad with slim fans sometime in the near future.

Since you've removed your AC fan, it's not going to come on whether the AC is on or not. The fan should only come on when the temp reaches whatever point it's set to. If you think it's not right, you can hook the fan directly to the battery, to test whether it's alright or not.

The ac fan is supposed to come on when you turn on the ac but the drivers side fan is the ac fan. The other fan is the engine fan that comes on either at 203 or 206, I can't remember exactly at the moment. Just out of curiousity why are you considering the upgraded radiator? Do you have a logger to look at the coolant temp? Do you have a fmic and ac still? My stocker is doing good with no ac and a fmic and one slim line and one stock ac fan. You can also get another slim fan to mount in front of the radiator to push air through if things are tight.
Also you can search around a bit and wire either fan or both to come on when you turn the ac on. Or you can wire one or both to a switch in the cockpit.

No I don't have a logger, but I plan on getting one soon. Not to change the thread, but can you show me where I can find a complete datalogging setup (what I need exactly)? I plan on upgrading the radiator just as a maintenence thing. I figure the current one has been on there for a while, so why not replace it.
