Radiator fan not coming on till car is getting too hot

not SUPER hot.. like in the red.. but like 3/4 of the way up.. this only happens at idle of course.. the fan just doesent kick on till the needle passes over the top of the radiator symbol (on 2 g)

why isnt it coming on at a cooler temp? it scares me.
 
You should modify your profile to show us what car, but suspects, in order: temp gauge sender (is it _really_ hot, or just LYING to you?)

Fan switch sensor (waiting just a _bit_ too long)

Fan motor wiring, other than the sender (relay, etc)

the 1g thermostat is the prob i think..

I bought a aftermarket setup with a probe, adjustable relay..etc and tapped the low speed wire for the fan and set it myself. it seems to work fine now.
 
I have a 97 GS-T myself. The fan on the driver-side of the car is broken so the other fan works like no other (in fact, it stays on most of hte time!). So I'm wondering, how did you wire the fan to a switch so you can manually turn it on/off?

I'm thinking about replacing the fan, but would still like the car to determine when to turn the fan on/off and hte option of manually controlling it as well.
