I've owned 3 dsms, a 90 eclipse 1.8, 1996 talon n/a, and finally, my baby, a 97 gst. I started Modding it and decided to go with a 3 inch catback. I am on a budget and decided to buy a kit on eBay that totaled to 135 dollars.

When I received it, I was quite impressed. Very nice welds, came with all gaskets and bolts. To bolt up to the cat, it has a 2.25 inch flange then flares to 3 inch. I measured each pipe and they were all 3 inches. The muffler tip was real nice, 4 inches with a burnt tip.

Well onto the good stuff. Working from the muffler forward, I started putting it together on the car. Everything was going smooth till the pipe from the cat to the crossmember elbow went on.they welded the flange crooked so I had to cut and reweld it to the proper position or the pipe would hit the floor and be impossible to finish the exhaust. After that horror, I found out I had to cut EVERY hangar on the car and exhaust, and either cut or reweld them for the exhaust to sit properly. After all the pain and agony, it was well worth it. Damn does this thing accelerate! I love the deep sound, and I did get rid of the cat and put a 2.25 inch test pipe temporarily. In the coming weeks I am buying an o2 housing and 3 inch downpipe.

The seller was racing_gear and I will post link to it later

I knew buying it would mean a PITA install, after it was all said and done, it was worth it. I had the tools availible to make it work, and it works well. Good sound and made it fit good so no rattling.

I have an ebay catback i got for $110 shipped. Fitment was so-so as expected, somewhere along the piping it must have really tight clearance because once its warm, at idle with AC on the exhaust will vibrate somewhere. Im just too lazy to fix it and just give it a little throttle when at a stop if it hits that idle rpm and does it. Had it that way since early 2009, doesnt really bother me anymore.

Tone is deep and monotonous (as opposed to defined and hearing every cylinder fire), which kinda sucks since i do most my driving on the freeway so that monotonous sound does tend to get old after a while. Not bad for $110 though, one day ill upgrade.

Its true you get what u paid for, although once its done right its satisfying. I didnt see spending 500 on an exhaust practical and I'm glad I didn't. Once it was fitted right, it was well worth it.
