Hi

i need haust and down pipes
but i want a exhaust that is quite as stock at idle,
i used to have stright pipe and magana flow on my civic
and it was too loud,

After few searches i found great number of exhaust that driver claim that they are quite and with great sound at WOT, one that i found was Ex-Mag but that is discontinued

so~ i need recommendations on exhaust and place or site to buy them and price too if you know them

as for down pipe what is the size on top neck (comming down from turbo) and bottom?
i heard that top neck is 2.5" is this right?

i need to have cat where i live to pass emission

Its now discontinued so you can only find it used. Its 3 piece. Most exhausts are 3 piece:

- downpipe
- cat back
- axle back

You can get a short apexi downpipe and run a hi flow cat. I have the long downpipe so no choice of a cat. You can find exhaust from most dsm vendors.

No offense intended, but I have a hard time believing that, especially without a cat.

I have an Apexi N1. With the silencer in, it's near stock, with it out, it's not super loud, but it's noticeable. I think it sounds good.

the reason dude civic was loud is because its n/t - n/ts are way louder than turbo cars and also because of that vtec. Im getting a full 3 in back on mines but im not sure if i should take off both sound resonators because i dont want it to sound like shit, because i hear taking off both resonators make it sound a little funny but im not sure??? I already have no cat.

I bought the 2.5" downpipe off of MachV and got a custom 2.5" catback with a Ravin muffler from Midas. Its very quiet at idle and is very smooth while under WOT. I loved it because I wanted something just *slightly* louder than stock. Got exactly what I wanted!

Oh heck no! Have you ever heard a turbo eclipse sound like a n/a honda?? If someone can host a video, I might be able to put one up. It'd just be from a camera phone, but it'd be better than nothing. ...on a side note, WHOOT! my 100th post!

its nit because of the vtec that it is loud it is because the exhaust isnt going through a turbine that slows dowm the exhaust and also becomes a resonator itself. I have a megan downpipie and a tsudo Apexi style exhaust with no cat and my car is quiet at idle. i would compare it to a v6 camaro or mustang. I have been running this exhaust for about a year now and got nothing but compliments from it especially from domestic guys that hate the ricey exhaust. The only time my car is loud is at WOT and even the it doesnt break the Db laws, I had my cousin test it who is a cop. If you get a cat on it then it will be even quieter.
I picked up my Downpipe and catback on ebay so they are out there for cheap.

Depends what you consider loud. But for a 3 inch with no cat, i think it's very quiet.

I am putting on a 3" RRE downpipe with a 16" resonator and the stock looking magnaflow muffler this week. I will take a video of it once its on and the muffler has settled. It should be pretty quiet.

I have the turbo-back with long down pipe Espelier 80mm SS exhaust from RRE. From what I understand it's just like the apexi N-1 but with better flow.

With the silencer on it sounds stock. At idle even without the silencer it’s not much louder then stock. It doesn't get loud until you give it some gas at which point it just sounds good. Not embarrassing or ricer at all.

i have a greddy evolution 2 three inch cat back exhaust on my 96gst and its perfect. not to low, not to high. perfect. (stock downpipe and cat.)
