i currently have a 2.25 catback with a muffler at the end (ebay muffler) if i get a magnaflow muffler wil it be quieter?

My friend has a magnaflow muffler on his laser, and it is quiet. At idle, you can't tell that it's aftermarket. Even when you accelerate normally, you can barely tell it's there. When you hammer it, you can deffinetly tell it's there. The one thing that I love is that it's not a raspy ricer tone, it's a deep solid tone. Soon as money permits, I'm going to get one for my car. :thumb:

LOL well i have the exact opposite to say. mine is louder at idle. pretty loud when accelerating normally, and raspy when going WOT. it used to be that it was raspy when it was cold, and as soon as it warmed up it went away. well i just put my high flow cat on, and that thing sounds really nice and deep and cool while accelerating normal, and sooo raspy at WOT no matter if its warmed up or not. im thinking about ditching it soon for an N1 style exauste.

Do you know what model he has? I deseratly want a quiet muffler that still flows decent. Magnaflow makes round ones that would NOT be quiet and ovals that would be better, $70. or $115. Makes a difference which one he is using. Help is appreciated. mark

I spoke to a tech gy ay Mgnaflowandwas discouraged as to how quiet one of theirs would be. I got the impression it would be quieter tan my cheap straight thru ricer can but still on the loud side of thigs. I once had an HKS cat back on a Starion and I could HEAR the turbo spool. That is the kind of quiet I want. Is that possible and stil have good flow at WOT?? Mark

wow after hearing the sound clip of the mangna flow a few hrs ago i went to the exhaust shop they didnt have the shiney mangnaflow but had a real nice :thumb: :thumb: shiney silver tone same as the magna flow. had them put that on and wow sounds really nice low tone at idel, then nice and deep sounding at wooot. im impressed.

Yeah, that is how my set-up is. I have a 3" turbo-back, using a greddy EVO cat-back. You can hear that it is aftermarket, but it is not loud at all. It's got a deap but quiet idle and I can hear my motor, turbo, and bov over the exhaust. I like it alot. I had a ricecan muffler and high-flow cat on my old 95 420a and it was loud as hell. It sounded good, but I got loud exhaust tickets every week. Now, with my new setup on my 4g63, they dont pull me over at all. It's loud enough to know that it's there and to sound good. But it's quiet enough to not get pulled over or annoyed by the noise. :thumb:

Bosal 3"

While the RSR is quieter.. It is more expensive and harder to get. The bosal is probably the most for the money.. Plus it hangs high on the car for clearance with lowered cars..

Run a high flow cat instead of a test pipe... Resonated tips are an option too.. Cut & Clamp.

An NT might need a resonator... The turbine in a turbo has a degree of silencing to it..

Well prostreet gae me RS*R's phone # and they do not carry a system for the '93AWD anymore and what I then asked for could not be had which is only a muffler as i have a 2.5" mandrelss pipe turbo back. prostreet said anyothers they sld were LOUD!! This is a bumme. Mark
