Calgary,
Couple questions actually. i have basic mods w/intake/exh, mbc, i plan on upgrading fuel, turbo and intercooler systems this year, but i do not plan on doing internals any time soon. i checked out dsmparts.com and they have a balance shaft elim kit. i found a great deal on the timing belt at prostreetonline.com. should i go for the elim kit, or just go with both belts? My car runs like shit right now, looks like the timing belt, i want to order parts this week. Thanks in advance...

Personally I would prefer to keep the balance shaft if I didn't plan to blueprint and balance my motor. But some folks would gladly sacrifice smoother operation for a couple extra ponies. It really just boils down to personal preference and how often you have a girl along for the ride.

Incidentally, Toda Racing also offers a "heavy duty timing belt" for the 4G63. Their belt is a bit more expensive but I wouldn't know if it's any better than the one offered by Power. Just letting you know that there's more than one available. :laser:

hmmm...there sure is a lot of guys on here that have had the exact same problem as me, which usually came down to the timing belt jumping a tooth or not being properly installed or something. damn...i have no idea. i've also been told it could be a flex tube, i have no idea what a flex tube is. anyways...i just wanted your opinions on the forementioned parts. i also wasn't aware that removing the balance shaft sacrificed smooth operation. How much difference would it make? Anybody removed theirs and still running stock guts? Also...some places offer pulleys in kits with the belts, do i need to purchase the pulleys too, or is just the belts ok? Thanks again...

Thanx Defiant...after 2 hrs of reading, i've made up my mind, and going with my original plan. BUCK definitely seems to be for the removal...LOL. Very interseting topic to read about, many opinions, but mine's gone next week, i'm gonna order the parts tomorrow. Thnx again man...
