quick starter question

ok....i finally found the starter in my car.....but the big ground wire is just sitting next to it and i think that is why my car isnt starting. i just got a new battery and i think he rigged it and it was just sitting on one of the bolts. my question is which one bolt should i put the ground wire on??? if it makes any diff i have one with a red rubber thing on it and it is shiny because it has been covered. any help is appreciated.

edit: saw something on here about a upper tranny bolt. could i bolt this down on the upper tranny bolt and what exactly is that?? pics or any info would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Im guessing the bolt for the ground on the tranny is gone. That upper bolt for the ground is on the tranny under the shift cables. I cant really describe exactly where it is but its about straight down from the valve cover breather area and along shifter cable area. Im assuming thhe power is hooked up and the ignition is on the (R) terminal as well? If I didnt answer your question a picture could help me.

Hook it to one ot the bellhousing bolts it really doesnt matter which one.

Look for a tech article for making your own grounding system, there is a chart and pictures of everything and where it should be grounded. I am not sure if it was here or on 2gnt, but the concept is the same.
