I am looking into going to speed density. Main reason is my MAF is bad, and a buddy is selling his speed density harness that plugs into the factory MAF connector and sensors for cheap. I have read the post suggested and searched, but everyone i found talked about going to speed density while already having some sort of tuning software. My only question ism can i do this with having some sort of data logger/tuning software. I am in the process of saving money to buy a DSM link, but i kinda need the car for work and what not. Thanks.

You can run Jackal with an Ostrich Emulator and a laptop.

I ran my car off of the files on the dsm-ecu yahoo forums with a burnt chip which is a real cheap setup. There is MMSD, which is the same as MMCD but with speed density and also free software. They can be ran on a cheap palm pilot and I'm pretty sure the laptop with a logging cable ~$25 or you can make yourself for less.
Either of these will require a socketed ecu which is ~$60 if you can't do yourself

I probably will pick up another maf, i am just trying to find one, i need it by Wed. i gotta take my car on a trip. BUt i think i will pick up that speed density stuff also. and just hold on to it. I didn't think about the ecu having to have a burnable chip in it, which i still gotta check mine out. thanks.

i have a 1g masitting in my garage. i am using the air can and what not, but the mas itself is good to go, looks brand new. pm me for pricing man!
