I see lots of different opinions about this one so I decided to just ask about it.

I have a 1997 Spyder I am dropping 2 inches. I have stock 17in GSX wheels that I am putting on the car. From what I understand a 215/40-17 is going to be my best bet. Is this tire to low profile to look good, or will it be fine with the 2 inch drop? Also what would you guys recommend for lowering springs? Doing those for now and coil overs later.

Thanks everyone

I'd do a 225/45 but that's just me, but I like the meaty look on a 17" wheel. I'm sure you'll get 17, 000 different responses, or get told to search the wheel fitment thread... which has covered this 17, 001 times

Also, 215/50 is the stock size, why would you go over a half inch smaller? Even lowering the car you still have 2" of gap on stock wheels and tires... going smaller is asking for a crappy ride and trying to cover even more gap between the fender and tire.
