quick question? about 90 tsi

i have a 1990 TSI awd i got it non running and rebuilt the engine but i'm having some issues with getting it to run right and i think i know what it is and i'm going to feel like a dumb ass if i'm right


does a 1990 tsi have a crank sensor?? or does it only have a CAS?? i dont remember removing ia crank sensor during tear down??

positive?? i have a buddy that has a nice 90tsi and he said it does?? i really just wanted a couple opinions i cant get my car to idle correct and i have this messed up sound coming from my MAF it sounds like back pressure being pushed in to my maf?? im so confused
