I'm a 6 bolt guy and I'm helping a friend rebuild his 1g 7 bolt. I searched, but can't come up with the answer. I know 2g 7 bolts have 11mm head studs, but do 1g 7 bolts use 11 or 12mm studs? Thanks.

I was looking on the arp website to try to help you find the info on the headstuds and the part number for the 2nd G is different than the 1g, and then 1g ( 89-94 ) all had the same part number for every yr so I would believe that for 1gs there all the same...

But I dont think that is enough info to settle with, Ill keep looking and if I find anything Ill edit.

(Edit) Well wait never mind because that part number I think was for a different package on the site
so perhaps they are different, appears that way but the sites not getting me sizes...

Not what you want to hear, but I just went to the garage, tried the 12mm 1g stud in a '93 7 bolt, and no go. Only the 11mm. Sorry Bro. :p (did tyr both though, 11mm was nice and snug)

Yea I think hes right because to think of it on my 6bolt engine im swapping in my car in august after its finished being built, the 6bolt head that came with it was shaved too low from pervious owner so Im using my 7bolt 93 head and I recall my tuner whos building and swapping the engine , telling me that the holes on the 7bolt head was like a milimeter off or somethin from the head but he opened the hole slightly bigger and it worked..

All 6 bolts use 12mm head bolts and all 7 bolts use 11mm head bolts. It doesnt matter whether it is a 1g or a 2g, the bolt diameter was changed at the same time the crank, rods, and block were changed. The only thing that didnt change at all was the head on the 1g. 1g 6 bolt and 7 bolt used the same head, which was the only engine part that was a direct interchange.
