I cleaned my intercooler today with gas, and when I was done using the gas I sprayed water in there and sloshed it around a bunch. My question is, its been drying for about 3 hours and if you smell inside the intercooler it stinks like gas real bad. Is there something else I should do before I put it back on my car and drive?? Oh and here is what came out of the intercooler. :barf:

Some thing i have done before with great sucess is put the waterhose in the inlet and let it run. It's best to have the inlet and outlet as high as possible so the water will flow through the whole I/C before it runs out the outlet.Let it flow through for a few minutes, then pour the water out and let it air dry.
Most of the gas smell will go away after it dries. If not it won't hurt anything to reinstall the I/C,once the pipes are on it you won't smell it anymore..

Yeah the smell isnt going to hurt anything, I'd just make sure there wasn't any gas in there. That would be harmless also. When I cleaned my intercooler this winter, there was nothing in it, it was bone dry, and It hadn't been cleaned since it was made. I don't get it. :|

Ok, thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt forgetting anything, and that the gas fumes werent going to make a new problem if ya know what I mean. Thanks again.

I would be very affraid to put water through my IC...

The gas will evapourate quickly, nothing to worry about.

Why? Let it dry for an hour and your fine, assuming you drained it all out.
