I just wanted to know if the intercoolers with the inlet and discharge on the same side are worth buying. I current have an intercooler with a whole in it and am looking to cut down on some piping.

They are good with the block off plate, specially in your case with an N/A, Hahn make a same side inlet/outlet that's actually pretty good. It will reduce the amount of bends the piping has to take and it's well proportioned. The ones to stay away from are ebay same side intercoolers, they don't have the block off plate for the most part.

I personally like mine, but having an Auto made things difficult when trying to select an FMIC, there's just no room on the drivers side for piping unless I want to run under the cross member.

Mine is a CXracing Same side, no need for an air diverter since it flows bottom to top.

cxracing.com: Front Monut Intercooler 23"x11"x3", 3" Core: 20"x6"x3", 2.5" Inlet & Outlet, ECLIPSE TALON DSM

Although I kinda wish I had gone for the larger core, this one mounted easily, and allowed me to keep the front bumper support in place.
