I was doing some searching online today on craigslist and found a guy local to me parting out his dsm. He has a 1g fmic core that he said he will sell me at a crazy cheap price. Seeing as how I have a 2g, what are the biggest differences between 1g and 2g front mounts? I'm sure the obvious is going to be mounting and possibly the routing of the pipe? Is there a way to fit this on my 2g or are there more issues lying behind this that I should be aware of before buying it?

Well you can make it work but it's a pain in the ass. Usually, on a 1g FMIC, the holes* are on the back side of the core. On a 2g, they are on the sides. It is like this because the radiator supports are located in different areas on the each gen. If I were you I'd just find a 2g one. It will be way easier to install.

*By holes I mean where and how the piping connects to the core.

Good point. Would the placement of the inlets of the core be in the way of or hit the radiator support? Since no piping is included with this core I was going to have custom piping made. I just want to know if there is any hope in this since you really can't argue with a core for $40, LOL.

how cheap it might be worth just buying trying and re selling

I know he is close to you.

But i have a Intercooler that is about 29 inches wide, 11 inches tall, and has a 3 inch core. Tis a front mount with the inlet and outlet's on the sides just like the one i bought for my 2g.

I could let it go pretty cheap. And ship it to you. Just a thought.
