I am in the process of "cleaning up" my motor and getting rid of misc. non-sense. I recently installed a SBR FMIC and piping and I had to remove the bracket that the BCS bolts to. It's all currently dangling there and I'm not using the BCS because I have a MBC. I've heard people say, "just leave the electrical connection plugged into the BCS so the computer *thinks* the BCS is still there".

But will it hurt to actually unplug it and fully remove it?? Will this negatively affect my car's drivability? I would just like to remove it and get it out of the way if possible. I did a search and nobody said if it was OK or not, or what I want to know: What happens if it is removed..... If someone can chime in with some info or experience, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks -Paul-

I got a CEL, but the only way to know for sure is unplug it. No harm in just unplugging it if you are not using it.

For 1Gs, you can remove it and not worry about it.

For 2Gs, it trips a CEL. I'm not sure if it backs off timing advance when the BCS isn't present - I'd run a log to check for sure.

If nothing else, you might be able to measure the resistance of the BCS and experiminent with a resistor of approximately the same resistance.

LOL, I allready got a CEL right now. I'll log it this coming weekend and see what it is. Then I'll unplug the BCS and log again to see if it makes a difference..... Thanks for your help guys. :thumb:
If anybody else has any experience with it, please feel free to share. :dsm:
