When removing the axle in a fwd 1g talon, i was looking for the quickest way. I found a tech article http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180821.

Now on the step which states,

now you can either take off the 3 strut tower nuts under the hood,or take out the 2 bolts holding the strut to the hub assembly(make note of how the upper bolt is facing, its the camber bolt)

-now,with a little force you can pull away the hub assembly and the axle apart. It's kind of tricky, but will work.

How is this possible when the lower arm ball joint connection and the tie rod connection are still hooked up to the table? How can you pull away the hub assemby

Think of it as a hinge. Your going to swing the hub assembly downand outwards swiveling it on the balljoint and tierod.

I've never tried it that way so i dont personally know if it will work or not.

What are you trying to change?

The trick that works fastest for me is to unbolt the shock from the knuckle, and unbolt and set aside the tie rod end. Of course take off the axle nut. Then yank down on the control arm/knuckle assembly and give the axle a firm hit with a rubber mallet or brass hammer so you don't damage the threads and it generally will start to push through the knuckle. Some times the use of a prybar is needed to pry down on the control arm a bit more so the entire axle splines will clear the hub. But the trick to making it easy is to remove the tie rod end from the knuckle.

when i was replaceing my transmission i only took one axle out i just took the lower ball joint nut off and seperated it (pass side) then took off the axle nut poped it out the tranny and took it out of the hub and on the driver side i just poped the axle out of the tranny and left it their and when i went to put the new tranny in i just lined up the axle it went in easy

Like stated above just remove the axel nut the pull the two strut to knuckel bolts and the tierod. Pull the knuckel out of the way and remove the axel easy!

u dont need to pull all that off just pull off the lower ball joint bolt and seperate it and the axle nut u dont need to remove the tie rod bolt
