Hey all, got the car up on stands atm, here are some pics of what I found. It looks like im leaking coolant all over the tranny, is that what the turqoise color is? Looks like it may be coming from one of the main coolant lines (line with the radiator cap in it has another line directly below it that branches out to the passenger front side of the car, i found alittle of that green shit bubbled where the gasket is) Ideas?

Turbo seems fine, cant find any other markings on it other than "A/R 70" on the intake side. Minimal shaft play.

I included a pic of what looks like a busted vac cap? its on the intake plenum between the turbo and the MAF. Could this be a source of a boost leak?

Also, ive got a shit load of oil on the underside of the car, couldnt get a good picture but it looks like i drove through an oil puddle about 5 inches deep, i mean its ALL over the place. Ideas? (I think it could be the steering rack.. sigh)

It also looks like there is a sensor on the trans that isnt hooked up? can anyone confirm or deny?

Lastly, I put up a pic of what the underside of the turbo oil return line looks like, also put a pic of where the line connects to the block. There is alot more there than just 5-6 drops, that keep showing up on the ground. So crush washers and a new gasket?

Ive got the car up on stands right now, so feel free to reply so i have a better idea of what I should do now that I have it up there.

All the turquoise stuff looks to be just rtv of some sort. That nipple on your intake is a vacuum fitting that would go to vacuum solenoids that some people tap into for manual boost controllers. Didn't see anything in any of your pics that would suggest anything for sensors. If you could, post a better pic for that.

So would a broken cap mean a leak of some sort? Also, the sensor I was asking about is in the 6th pic from the top. Just above the IC piping there is a little black bushing on the trans, looks like a sensor that isnt plugged in. Just to the right of the big bronze thing (i have no idea what that is.. LOL)

also when im driving sometimes i can smell what I think is burning coolant. looking at all the shit on the transmission that could explain it. Are you sure its RTV? Some of it was puddled in a part of the trans case and it was clearly liquid, RTV hardens after a set amount of time and does not resort back to liquid form does it?

i think your looking a breather for the tranny, when i saw mine for the first time i thought the same thing

ok whew.. LOL looking again there is another one on the other side of the transmission. But i think your right, they do look more like breathers, as there is nothing inside them (usually if its a sensor I'd feel the connector) Any ideas on where to look on the turbo for a part #?

That's not a sensor it's a vent. As the transmission gets hot the fluids expands, air needs to go somewhere. As for your leaks, replace that's rtv sealant crap with gaskets. And while your in there might as well replace your thermostat to

The turbo drain needs special crush washers on the bolts or oil will piss out of the bolts. It also needs real gaskets and not just some smeared silicone.

normally on the cold side of the turbo, i dont see anything in the pictures though. not 100% sure on your turbo but from what I've seen it would be on the part of the turbo thats cut off on the top of the pic

Here is a "money shot" of the cold side. as you can see, it only has the two markings on it, but no other type at all, ive checked on the front, the back on the hot side and only found the A/R markings and nothing else.

Well you now got the sensor figured out, and that bronze piece next to that vent is just a counter-weight for your shifter linkage. A broken rad cap could lead to some leakage. I don't know what to tell you about the turquoise liquid though, that's new to me. There shouldn't be and liquid of that color anywhere on your car. That wiring looks as bad as the wiring on my last eclipse. Was so hacker up and mutilated that I ended up buying a new harness from a local part out.

Im affraid thats what im gonna be forced to do LOL. :banghead: Why would someone have to hack that thing to pieces like that?

My day just got better.. LOL Was looking around at all the vacume line hoses, and came across this. This is the hose that connects the boost controller to the lower IC plumbing.. love the huge hole on the end of the T cap, then again on the fitting for the IC piping.

Mine was hacked into because someone dropped in a 6-bolt, but the guy I bought it from probably didn't know that, which is why I bought it for so damn cheap ;) People are stupid at times and don't like to admit they don't know how to do proper wiring, so they try anyway, and well, you know what happens after that. After I sold that one, I decided to find one that wasn't hacked up and such. So my current was completely stock, no wire problems or anything. I like doing electrical stuff, but that last one was a nightmare. I feel your pain.

Lol another weekend project for me. Right now im working on re-circulating my BOV, replacing some torn and broken vacuum plugs and caps and hopefully getting this damn boost controller working right. Ill probably go pick up a used stock harness from someone on here and just swap the old one out. This is gonna be a pain in my ass... LOL Since you seem to be the one responding most, any ideas about the turbo and why i cant for the life of me find a part # on this bi***?

your head and block stock? hx35 or 40 are big turbos if you have stock internals. i mean itll work and youll make good power but no where near the potiental of the turbo.
