I recently bought a 1995 GSX 2g eclipse. This car was is nearly 12 years old and not once has it been stripped down, taken apart or anything toyed around with. It has also been driven in the winters from the previous 2 owners and has rust under the body and on the frame. I was just wondering if i should even bother trying to polish it off and try and stop the rust under the car and inside of the hood. Or is it even worth it? I'm nitpicky about things being dirty/rusty and i wouldn't want parts to get rusted through and ate up in the long run, i plan on keeping this car for a very long time.

Also, my car is a blant red, I looked at the 50$ paint job topic and it was a huge interest, but one question i had to ask, the people that did it. Did you paint inside the hood and door panels too? How did that go?

Spray paint and clear coat works great for the engine bay area. As for the rust on the underbody, try a wire brush. I've been using a wire brush and some elbow grease and its been working fine.

Awsome, Are there any spots that i should really look out for rust under the body? I've shuffled around the forums and found alot of engine bay maintenance posts so that helped. :p
