ok well i decided to get an AWD Eclipse (2g).and now im wondering should i get it financial or buy it for the cash?? if i get it for cash then i need a good half year or maybe a year to save that kind of amount cause theyre not that cheap LOL everybody knows that :).my other question is umm should i keep my old eclipse or i should sell it??? cause if ill sell it i would have more cash for my new AWD,but other thing if ill keep it i think it would be better for an extra parts em i right? then i don't need to buy stuffs over again what do you guys think?? i want to know some of you dsm'ers opinions. thanks for all you passion

Depending on how much $ you put into your 1G I would just keep it. Otherwise take out the performance parts sell them or reuse them. This way you wouldn't waste the $ you put into it. Just my opinion. I know I would never get the money I put into my car back if I just sold the car outright. On the other hand you might get lucky and find someone willing to pay what you want. In the end its your decision. Good luck.

i put almost 10k for all meintaince work and the upgrades that i have i know i won't get more then 3k for my 1g eclipse, and i dunno how much i could get selling it by the parts,i don't know if it worth to sell by the parts, and im looking to spend no more then 10k for an AWD eclipse,so im totally lost out there :sosad:

I would say alot would depend on what condition car you are looking for when it comes to your new AWD car because that can also determine how much money you will have to save up. If you want the car soon then finance and then just pay if off in 6 months to the year.

As for your 1g car. I would have to agree with some of the statments above. If you have any performance parts on it that would swap over then do that but I wouldn't use the 1g for parts. Then you might get stuck with a non-running dsm that would do you no good.

Most of the replies in this post would be personal opinions and from each of our own experiances so it's all up to you on how you want to do it though.

Don't finance a used car. You'll end up paying ridiculous amounts of interest and spending way more than you originally intended. If you can't afford the AWD, then keep saving. Don't bury yourself in debt just to feed your impulses.

I'd love to have AWD myself, but they are hard to find around here. But if its a bit of a stretch on your budget, I'd say no. The time it would take you to save the money and then lets face it, your not going to find too many of them with low miles well cared for. Don't get me wrong, they are out there, but very hard to come by. I think you'd end up hating DSM's in the long run if you do this, enjoy your car now, maybe sometime in the future you'll be in a better position financially to get that AWD you want. Thats just my .02 worth.

i think most of the people out there bought they're dsms (2g) not for cash cause its damn expensive and most of them still going to school or college,i found one good deal on classifieds http://www.dsmtuners.com/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=57972&cat=all
what do you guys think??? is it worth that kind of money??? it has a 6bolt already evo 3 turbo thats all i need for now,i have an extra 550's laying in my garage, plus maf sensor and maft gen2,what do you think??? if its worth then i sell my 1g and get this one for 5000 then my budget will let me buy this AWD

I would also have to agree with ginNboost. Don't rush into the purchase just because you want it. You already have an AWD turbo car and you've invested a lot of money into it. I'd say keep the 1G for a while and keep saving your money. Definitly don't take a loan out on one because the interest rates are sky high on used cars of the 2G age. By all means, pay cash for it. Plus, you won't have an obligation and you can start putting your money into mods (instead of paying off the darn loan).

But, if you happen to come across a really great deal on one, definitly look into it!

Good luck finding that perfect car!

mines is not an AWD its FWD and im really tired of it it still needs alot of work tranny is going out ,plus interior needs some work plus its PITA to drive on a wet roads or even snow.i always wanted 2gb AWD Eclipse cause it looks wayyyyy better and its wayy smoother to drive then 1g dsm,1g dsm is very annoying all those plastic things inside the car are making alot of noise which pissing me off,the girls whoever sits in the car feel uncomfortable sitting in it i dunno i just feel that its time to get rid of my 1g eclipse....:(

Sorry about that. Must've read your info wrong. Well, it does sound like you pretty much have your mind set on what you want to do but I'd still just keep looking for one and try to pay cash for it. You definitly don't want to just buy one on impulse and have it need a lot of work or something go wrong shortly after. I know the 2Gb AWD's aren't easy to come by so keep your eyes open and hopefully something will show up soon!

Well, hate to tell you this, but the 2g cars are even cheaper in quality interior parts, and Oh so much plastic!!!

Keep the 1g and get the motor ready for the 6bolt swap... because you're gonna want to do it at some point.

I feel lucky that I got my 2g AWD for so cheap...$3400 haha... only problem was that it was a rebuilt crankwalked 7bolt, and it blew up a month later. :|
