I searched and read every thread, but I still can't seem to find the answer. I plan on using this pump because I don't want the annoying walbro sound and it outflows it. I have read the tech article on installing a denso, but the supra pump seems bigger. I read people have to tilt it to make it fit, but I have also read others weren't able to connect it because it is too big. Does anyone have pics of their install? Does it matter if the pump is tilted? What about those that werent able to install it?

And finally, I read up on these, has anyone used these? Seems as if price is a lot cheaper new than before:

Denso/Kyosan Universal Racing Fuel Pump Supra Turbo TT:eBay Motors (item 300351193910 end time Dec-24-09 11:14:31 PST)

I read on several forums that this is the real deal.

99gstracer, looking at your pic again, it looks like yours is hanging lower than mine, which maybe I believe why you said it fits fine (not slanted). I'm assuming it is in good enough where the o-ring is still in there?

I was thinking of running a fuel hose on the top of the assembly (thick part) and then use a fitting to run a smaller fuel hose on the pump, as both are different sizes, if that makes sense. It will put the pump lower, but I do not think the pump being lower will cause any harm since the pump is sitting in fuel. Then I will use a clamp like you used to hold it down. Will try it and post pics if it works out, otherwise I will have to do it like yours. Yours doesn't leak at all?

ummm errr ummm? something stuck in your mouth? anyways if you do not know, supra pumps use two o-rings (well mine does, so one could be sticking out and the other could be in) if that is the reason you are laughing..

IIRC, mine came with some special rubber thing - it was like a condom for that outlet nipple but it had a hole for fuel to flow. It looks like it allows mine to mount lower while maintaining a tight seal. I assumed they all came with said rubber thingy.

I'll be running some meth injection lines in my 2G in about a month from now. Maybe if I'm feeling up for it, I'll pull my pump assembly out and snap some better pictures of it.

Hmm, that is interesting, where did you buy this pump at? It came with the condom looking thing? Very interested in finding this piece as it seems like a better idea if it installs perfectly on our fuel pump assemblies.

So you do not use o-rings or the brown/tan cap?

-ight, I didn't use any o-rings or the cap at all. Just the little rubber boot thing and it fits great in the DSM hanger assembly. It did come with the pump.

Denso sent the pump to my work as a freebie to try to get us to stock inventory of them. And the product manager passed it along down to me. I never intended to use it for anything until my Wally 255 caught on fire.

I remember googling the Denso part number and it was listed for a 2JZ Supra. I know I don't have the box anymore now, so I have no clue what that part number is.

EDIT: Part number 950-0155.

Oh I see, I went on denso's site and searched for the supra pump, here's whats listed:

Super Class Fuel Pumps 950-0155 950-0155 $239.88

Super Class Fuel Pumps 951-0014 951-0014 $239.20

Super Class Fuel Pump Filter 952-0029 952-0029 w/ 50mm Dia. Pump; $13.32

Super Class Fuel Pump Tank Seal 954-0006 954-0006 w/ 50mm Dia. Pump; $7.35

I'm thinking it could be the Fuel Pump Tank Seal? I will call them and ask them about it, very interested, and I'm assuming it was a tight seal with that? Because on mine, using the o-rings and the cap the seal is not what I would say perfect, still feels as if fuel can leak down past the o-rings.

Yea I believe I saw that picture when googling, but it still has the o-ring and cap, so I'm assuming you just installed that rubber piece over that piece on fuel pump? You didn't even use the parts below the rubber piece, forgot what they are called but they also go before the o-ring and cap.

Now where to find that piece is the problem hehe, I will ask around and maybe call Denso to see if they can provide it.

Thanks for the help, I called them up, but they do not sell separately or know a part number :banghead:

I will take a pic and go to a toyota dealership tomorrow and see if they can sell me one

I will then update the thread and take pics once I do the job with that rubber piece.

I went to Toyota dealer and they helped me out, they couldn't find one from a supra but they found it from a celica. From the looks of it, it looks the same to me, only 1 dollar and change:

What do you think 99gstracer? I test fitted on my old pump and it fits nice and tight as you can see. Only thing I do not understand is why don't they just use this instead of an o-ring and cap? This seems MUCH easier if it does fit perfectly like you say.

Yup, looks just like the one that I have. Kudos for locating it.

Yeah, that thing works better than any o-rings that I've ever used. I don't know why it's not more common in the DSM world...

Can you post up the Toyota part number? I'm sure it might come in handy for anybody searching about using the Supra pump.

Thanks for the help!

I believe the part number is: 23239-21010 if you go to Toyota Dealer.

It is from a Celica fuel pump, they call it Seal, Fuel Pump Filt

So on yours it fit tight and does not leak? I believe mine is leaking because the FPR drops straight to 0 when car is turned off, I heard it is supposed to slowly drop and if it drops instantly it means fuel pump leaking?

No problem. :)

Yeah, as far as I know mine isn't leaking. I don't think I've ever checked my FP gauge for pressure bleed off though. But with that rubber seal, it fit very tightly in the hanger assembly, so I seriously doubt it's leaking at all.

I do know that I'm not experiencing any fuel supply issues even at 85 psi fuel pressure, so I'm assuming all is well.

Sounds good! Decided to do mine right now since my car was down LOL. Have a bit more than half tank though! Never done it like that, but we will see, hopefully it not too bad. Decided to do it since I'm on e85 and it better smell than gas hehe. I will post pics of the job with the new seal soon once I'm done, hopefully this will help others in installing supra pump :)

I'm really wondering if you guys are doing something wrong...

I have a Denso Supra 280 lph pump in my 2G and it fit like a glove. It was the larger body pump (much larger than the Wally 255 that it replaced).

I am interested in those connectors. Did you weld a 6an bung on there to use or is that a bulkhead connector? What about those plugs where the wires go through, any more info on those?

Yes, that's just a -6 bung welded on over the hole where I cut off the hardline. Works like a charm, but you need to be careful with how much heat you use because too much will melt the silver solder used to fix the hardline in place underneath the bung.

Here's a picture of one I did for a member of this site:

And for the cord grips, I ordered them from these guys: McMaster-Carr

I had previously tried using regular o-rings, but it was leaking badly. These cord grips offer a great positive seal so no more leaks.

Just an update, I installed pump with the rubber seal instead of the o-ring and cap. It is a much tighter seal, fits nice and snug, it still was however slanted sideways a bit when installing, but I forced it in all the way and tightened the bottom bracket down, so now it is sitting perfectly and does not move.

I did not use a clamp because I felt it will just make it go slanted again when tightening the clamp it will force it to slant since it tightens onto the bracket. Even for those who install it like 99gstracer, it will not leak do to this rubber seal.

Here are pics:

I forgot to take pic of it installed unfortunately :ohdamn: But it was not slanted at all since I forced it in and made it stay with the bottom support bracket. Also I noticed this time afpr bleeds off slower, before it was instant. Not sure if it is fuelab afpr that makes it bleed off so fast, when I turn off car after it has been running and pop hood and check outside it is already to 0, and I'am sure it is not leaking.
