Ok heres the deal:

I wanna run a Evo3 B16g w/o messing w/ my stock fuel.

Im currently running a 14b at 19psi and im running pig rich according to the light show air/fuel gauge ROFL

Anyhow can this be done? if i run low boost?

I only have money for a turbo then about 3 months ill have money for the safc2 and 550 injectors or can i just put in the 450 injectors from the 1g and it should hold me over? i dunno what the stock fuel pump can do w/ the stock fpr

Clue me in please, btw i did search on this but i came up empty handed

Yeah, I've since run a additional runs and am creeping to around 15-16 psi in the upper RPM range. I'm still leaving things at ~10 for the moment to be safe rather than sorry. I wasn't expecting huge gains until I get the supporting mods taken care of, I rushed to doing this sooner because my old 14b was having bad boost leak issues between the the inducer and compressor. If I do creep, I'm not hitting 15 psi until ~6000-6500 RPM, at which point IDC is ~100% or more. Before 5500 timing, IDC, ect looks good, so it works for my typical driving around town for the mean time.

So you are set at 10 psi but you are really running 15 psi. When you said, "Sure 10 psi is less than the 15 I was running on my 14b before the o-ring in it started causing a boost leak, but overall it's still equating to ~ the same amount of air, so ~ the same amount of power, if not slightly more (or so it seems)", then that is not true. That's all I'm saying If your creeping to 15 psi then you're running 15 psi. Which is why you're maxing out your IDC perhaps. But at 10 psi an evo3 16g and a 14b will not max out the stock injecotrs. A 14b at 15 psi is pushing more air into the engine than an EVO3 at 10 psi. That's all. . .

You know? have you done a boost leak test recently?

Fuel cut can occure if you're running very rich as well.

Running rich- the act of adding more fuel than neccesary.

Caused by- high airflow reading but less air actually entering engine.

Since the airflow count has gone way up, suddenly fuel cut is induded and you're running super lean. . .

Fuel cut occurs when you tune very rich (either intentionally or because of boost leaks), but still you suddenly go lean.

FUEL CUT IS NOT A SAFETY NET!
See folks thi sis a clear difference between an ameture and a proffesional. It took me, an ameture, several paragraphs so state what Jon has stated concisely and clearly, and I still don't think I actually was able to get the point across. Thanx, Jon:thumb:

I'm just gonna say this in a very simple way. Getting the bigger turbo is a great, beautiful thing. It was one of the first mods I got. HOWEVER......

The fun did not last long at all. Nuff said. Please get the fuel/other upgrades first to have the true opportunity to utilize the turbo you're drooling over. You'll save yourself from some major headaches, and most importantly money, in the future.

Gentlemen,

Let me state this very clearly. Jon from Slowboy and dsm-onster are exactly correct. Fuel cut is an airflow issue and has nothing to do with a lack thereof or excess amount of fuel. You can run 850 injectors on an EVO III with no compensation and still run into fuel cut even though you'll be drowning in fuel. Simply put, when the MAS senses too much air, it will cut the fuel. As Jon mentioned, this is NOT a safety net and repeatedly running the motor on the lean side will grenade it.

Everybody get it?

I have recieved a warning for my comments and desevedly so. I would like to apoligize for taking my comments to a personal level. Now that I think about it, I really do not want to bash anyone personally on this forum. I am afraid that I may have done this elseware and I should look at the big picture of what I am saying before I click "submit". We're all DSMer's. We all have the same basic issues. and this is destructive to the culture of this forum. whick is :notgood: .

gsxboost20g I'm sorry. You're not a clown. Just a daredevil:thumb: ! And that's good in my book. My reference to childishness purely should be coupled with your DSM experiece and nothing more. I have no idea what resposibilites you may have to take on day in and day out. Nor do I profess to me more mature than you as a person. Take what I've said with a grain of salt. It's all from personal experience. Everything else, just forgive me for my short fuse if you feel it's meritted.

Peace,

Exactly... that was my understanding of it as well.

Peace,

Very nicely said and something that bodes well for the future of Tuners. We're all guilty of becoming short fused from time to time, but being able to admit to it and correct one's behavior is a noble thing.
