i have a 93 tsi and i had a non-turbo block bored .20 over. My questoin is does the non-turbo block have a place for the knock sencor, if i doesent can i drill and tap one.

For some REP points here is your reply.

The NA 4g63 block DOES NOT have the same hole provided for a knock sensor like the 4g63T blocks have. There is a unused bolt hole or two back there that are the same thread though, so do what others do and use one of those bolt holes for your knock sensor.

Good luck.

thanks crankbender, but honestly I am sure you already knew the answer and the original poster didn't so, instead of telling him to search, I gave him the answer and requested some REP points.

I know this topic has already been covered, I have read it, and witnessed the situation first hand with a 6 bolt NA block, matter of fact I have a NA 6 bolt block in a trash bag in my storage room, so I can speak with experience, because...........there is NO specified Knock Sensor location on a NA block.

I think I should qualify for a title other than "Registered User", I have done just about every DSM repair/upgrade known to DSMers. I may not have a 11 second timeslip, but I am capable of building and tuning alot more than a 11 second car.

also remember there are no holes for the "oil squirters" but there are dimples where they go, so if you want you can drill and tap those too,... the blocks are identical except that the holes havent been drilled and tapped on the n/t

the reason i ask is because i had the knock sencor in the hole under the #3 cylinder right by the head gasket and i was getting 43 counts of knock, i know there is another hole inbetween the 1 and 2 cylinder, is it ok there.

ok well i put in the other hole and its getting 10 count of knock untill its hits 6K rpms then it get 43.

i post logs because i dont have excel yet.
