So I am looking at buying a new intake manifold and throttle body for my 1g Talon. I'm just kinda stuck on a few things.. I've been looking into JM Fab intake manifolds as well as Magnus. JM seems like a better bang for the buck considering its quite a bit cheaper unless we're looking at the Magnus street edition.

JM Fab has street, race, and drag editions. If I am only running a 16g Turbo would it be bad to buy a race edition if I plan on going to a bit bigger turbo later? How would this effect my powerband VS a street manifold. I know the streets have been proven to make over 700hp.. But would it be a bad idea to go bigger?

What size TB should I run?

Thanks guys.

All depends on where and how much hp you plan making in your future. 16g I would stay with the stock manifold as anything bigger would kill the response of the 16g. Any of the other manifolds(JMF street, drag, race) you listed I would go with a much bigger turbo.

Mostly it comes down to turbo airflow capabilities and if the intake system size is being a restriction. So if you have a smaller turbo with lower air flow and you put big intake runners, enlarge the TB, put bigger IC piping, Huge IC, etc all it turns into is more volume the turbo has to fill up before it ever starts producing boost. You will loose air velocity. It will make a peppy small turbo seem to lag which you don't want.

You could look at it like a tube. If you have a small volume of air (small turbo) and you blow that air in a big around tube (big IC race intake etc) the air will come out slow with little pressure. If you size the tube down some the velocity and pressure will increase and not affect volume much at all. Size it down more and at some point the tube will be a restriction. You'll get high pressure and velocity but no volume.
Smaller peppier but less volume. Bigger capable of more volume but will act lazier.

Fact to consider: Stock 1g and 2g IM's have been over 700whp. Im sure if those cars where to back-to-back dyno with a JMF/magnus/etc SMIM they would pick up power nearly across the board.

Personally im going to keep my 2g mani with 1g tb(matched of course) and see how far it can go.
