First of all I searched; however I would like to ask again about how worth it this mod is? I am about to drop the transmission to replace the clutch and flywheel and before I do it, I would like to know if I should spend $1000 on this. Thanks in advance.

The overall power is between 350 to 400hp. As of right now, I have all the modification to get to the previous mentioned horsepower. However, this is going to be a weekend car to have some fun, not track or auto cross but I just don't want to go into the expressway and start peeling the tires just because I press the gas to much, this was something that used to happen to me in a Gst that I used to have.

ATB Lsd are great. I'm even planing to install ATB in the rear IF I can find one(quaife evo) and cheap enough. I'm not a fan of clutch plate which needs to be rebuild depending on the use. And clunking noise if it's set up to lock on hard especially low speed and turns. But with the right oil it's doable.

The center Lsd is the one you kinda need to watch out for and even at your power level it will be fine. Is yours awd?

I am fwd center LSD is not for me. I am looking to install the one for fwd. Anybody else has some good info on this? Maybe boost by gear is better than spending the money on an LSD, however I would like to hear what you guys think.

Boost by gear is not gonna do anything when one wheel is smoking and the other is not. Fwd quiafe Lsd is proven to be robust and very reliable. It will help your oversteer situation in the corner too. If you want to boost by gear while smoking one of your wheel is fine too.

Im around 300 with a quaiffe and it still spins them in first n second on street tires..I am able to put down the power earlier in the corners...
search around lots of good info from the ol days about it

I noticed that my gas mileage went down after I installed my Quaife. Now my mpg are similar to my awd, before my fwd got better mileage than my awd. As stated you can still spin the tires. You will understeer in corners when putting down lots of power too.

Without a doubt a LSD is worth it on a fwd. Even at stock levels its worth it. Wont notice a bunch, but at 300+whp you should notice a tremendous gain in traction. Then you can plop down some money on the tranny you just sheared a gear on! ha.

It's better to spin both wheels than one if you are going to spin anyways. I want all four of my tires spinning equally LOL

It only noticeably helps when exiting corners. Straight line, is about the same, you just spin 2 tires. I'm sure theres more traction and better accel, but I still spin smoothly through 1,2 and on crappy roads third will let go. Exiting a corner while throttling up you will feel the lsd fighting for grip, and it definitely helps then.

Just tossing the LSD in won't magically fix everything, I should note. There's still plenty of chassis/suspension and driver mods to be done.

Don't forget an appropriate set of tires for your application of course, in case that needs to be pointed out.

Yeah its worth it! Ask me how I know, well I run one and I am more than happy with it;)

Quaife in a FWD = Awesome.

Spending that $1k on an AWD swap = Awesomer.

After having done both, I would definitely recommend skipping right to all wheel drive.

I have been contemplating the awd swap but haven't made up the old mind!
