Ive been on this for the past 2 hours and have goten NO WHERE. Why is putting together this steel braide return line so hard. Heres what I do.

Cut the line, put electrical tape on the end. Then push and twist it into the red fitting. Then I try and screw in the blue fitting to the other end of the red. But I cant push it in far enough to get it threaded so I back out the line and then I get it thread. I keep pushing the line in as I screw the blue fitting on, everytime it pushes the line out of wont catch threads. Anytips. No i dont have any line wrenches that big. Im using vice grips.

If your working with AN fittings you will need a special thread insertion tool. The wrenches are also a must too. Without that thread insertion tool you can try all day long. You may try Clark's tool over there off of 40 Hwy and 7 in Blue Springs they may have the tools you need. If not try NAPA and look through their AeroSpeed Catalog under to the tools section. Also you may want to read up on a few line install articles @ DSM.org They have a few good articles in the Archieves for working with steel braided hose. Hope this helps.... :talon:

I did it without line wrenches and any special tools. WOHHOOO. Now the fittings are a little beat up but hey, whos going to see it:)

Good Job! Yeah can be done just use that twisting method as its going in. In aviation maint class we used some hydraulic oil to lube the inside of the hose and use the tool and twist on the line. Then wrench the two together tight. Alsmost not worth all the effort but guaranteed not to leak so one cannot go wrong, :talon:

did my fuel feed and return (4 ends) and it did not take 2 hours.
1) wrap tight with electrical tape
2) cut with dremmel tool
3) twist and roll hose to start into red piece
4) put a rag on the floor with proper size wrench (11/16? for the -6an)
5) put red fitting in wrench on the rag with your foot on the wrench to hold it
6) twist and push hose into red fitting until it seats against the end
7) lube inside of hose and install blue piece
8) clean inside hose with brake cleaner

i did mine with a couple of wrenches and had only minor scuffing of the fittings. had to redo return line because i screwed up the second cut...installed 5 ends total in about 1-1/2 hrs

Congradulations. This was my first time and I used no oil to lube anything up :p
