punishment racing hard pipe kit

I am installing the hard pipe kit and it came with a combination of 2" 2.25" 2.5" t bolt clamps and it looks like they want you to use the three 2" clamps on both ends of the stock intercooler and to the turbo but I cannot get the clamp over the coupling after putting it on. Am I using it in the wrong location. I have tried to call them but I dont get anybody. Thanks for any help.

Try taking the nut off the t-bolt clamp, then opening it up, put it over the lip on the pipe, then close it back up and put the nut back on and tighten.

I tried taking it apart and putting it around the pipe but you would never be able to get it closed again. Trust me I tried. I have installed many things and am a tech but never installed this kit before. Just seems like the 2" is too small of a clamp for the stock intercooler. I currently am just reusing the stock clamps but I would rather use the t bolts as they are stronger. The 2" worked fine for the turbo outlet though. Wish I could get ahold of punishment I have tried to call them since last week and I only get the message saying they are out of the office.

Buy a slightly bigger tbolt clamp then if you cant get it to work.

Honestly, I broke almost all of my T-bolt clamps that came with the piping kit...if you are running stock boost, just run some NEW hose clamps. I have never had problems running them on my PR piping 14-15 pounds. To more directly answer your question, if IIRC, there should only be one 2" clamp to be used at the turbo...two 2.25" clamps to be used on the SMIC side, and 2.5" everywhere else.

I figured I just would buy bigger ones but I paid for this and if I was doing something wrong then I wanted to fix it. I'm currently running stock boost but wont be once I get my big 16g installed. I was thinking as well I should have had 2.25 on the intercooler and one 2 at the turbo outlet. Then 2.5 everywhere else. O well I guess I'll call punishment later and tell them the trouble. Thanks for the input guys.

It's usually 2" off the turbo's j-pipe, 2" at the intercooler in/out, and 2.25" on the throttle body elbow.

Have you tried putting the clamp on the coupler as loose as you can then slipping it over the piping? That's worked for me before.


And you'll want to use t-bolt clamps. The regular hose clamps won't hold at higher boost levels.

Yes I have tried slipping the 2" clamps on with the pipe and after I installed the coupler on and didn't work. I also have taken them apart and tried to put them back together on the pipe and that didn't work either. The only two places I have a problem is on the inlet and outlet of the intercooler everywhere else it worked fine with no problem. I just currently am running the stock clamps there for now until I talk to punishment racing and see what they say.
