i was just wondering if anybody else had a problem with the punishment racing 3 inch downpipe rubbing on their oil pan? the nuts are also very hard to get on and they are dimpeled. coming from a company with as much rep as it has wouldnt you actually think it should be a direct bolt on?

I have the PR/cxracing downpipe on my gst and i have no problems with it rubbing anywhere
However, the bolts that connected the downpipe to the catback, i had a muffler shop cut off the flange and weld it to the cat-back. As for the side that connects to the o2 housing, it fits fine.

i had one of these downpipes i had 0 fitment issues but was it one they made or was it the other kind?...i had i had a mild steel downpipe by them and it was wonderful.

My punishment downpipe on my 1g rubs against the frame of the car about 2 inches past the flex section. I do have a XS Power O2 housing with an O2 dump.

no im using the stock 14b 02 housing. iv heard of one other occasion where this has happened also. anyways i called punishment racing and they said they would refund me the money just doesnt seem right though.

The first thing I would do is a call a company rather then jump onto a forum. If they are going to make it right with a new part or refund thats pretty good in my book. Maybe there was a mistake made, sh*t happens. By notifying the company first they can check out their rig and maybe make a correction and get you the right part along with others in the future. I've seen some Punishment parts along with owning them. They've been really nice and even better for the price.

i understand that i did call them and i already am gonna send it back i was just wondering if it was a fluke possibly one outa millions made wrong or something i have nothing against punishment racing either i was just seeing if anybody else had this problem ever seeing if maybe it was something with my setup being wrong. exhaust housing clocked wrong or something like that, which actually makes me think maybe thats my problem now that i mention it.

So Im going to install a 14b on 2g. So you are saying that if I'm going to (probably will anyways) buy a punishment racing downpipe I'm going to run into the same situation?

So, why are you using a 1g o2 housing on your 2g in the first place? The 2g o2 housings are better.

No, you shouldn't have a problem. Stick with the 2g o2 housing and you will be fine.

ya that makes no sense considering that a 14b is off of a 1g and a t25 o2 housing isnt any better than the 14b and if you would read my profile i have the 02 housing ported to the max. just thought id throw that out there ### from where i come from we dont call 02 housings 1gs or 2gs we go bye the name of the turbo i aint stupid thanks tho!!!

### the car didnt come with a turbo so the 14b i picked up only had the 14b 02 housing plus its ported to the max to prevent boost creep so thats the reason. whats the differnce between a t25 02 housing and a 14b 02 housing anyways i didnt even know the t25 can fit on a 14b!!

Well rather than making a new thread this one seems like a good place to place my problem and condense info to a relevant topic. So I am runing an evo III 16g megan O2 housing, punishment DP, megan catback. When I installed the DP for fitment today it was pressed against the oil pan and very close to the transfer case. My question is it touching the oil pan going to "cook" the oil? I am going to wrap the DP with heat wrap but not the flex section which is touching the oil pan.

I wouldn't run it like that wrapped or not. Rubbing will eventually poke a hole somewhere and the heat can't be good on anything. Fix your o2, your downpipe, or whatever is causing the problem.

I would try swapping o2 housings first. If you have a stock one, throw it on there and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't fix the problem or make it better then I would give Tim a call and let him know what's up.

It shouldn't be rubbing like that.

Emailed punishment and they said it is a comon problem with the Megan o2 housing even know I specificaly asked them if it worked with the megan before I bought it and that I should just "flatten it out with a hammer where it is rubbing". WTF?

While that sounds like a quick fix to the problem, you would be better off replacing the Megan o2 with a 2g or evo3 housing instead.

Evo 3 will not work its the wrong angle and the 2g is too constricted I'm going to pull the 02 and bolt the 2g on just to see if its the o2 Housing or the downpipe. I will probably have the radius on the downpipe flattened out at an exhaust shop.

Well I fixed my problem using a jack breaker bar and a torch. I wedged the bar behind the pipe and against the transfer case and jacked the other end up pulling the pipe away from the pan. And then heated the radius section until it was glowing red and let it cool down. Here's the results.
