I am worried i might mess up the valve guides if i just yank the old ones off with pliers. Is there a certian tool i should be using to get them off? I actually heated a open end wrench up and bent it at a 90 degree, placed it under the seal and I cant seem to get them off. How have you guys done it?

You won't. The guides are in the head with tons of pressure, and you'd have to just about try to hurt them with pliers. The old ones are liable to be so brittle with age that they'll just tear anyway. You'll find not much is holding them on.
