pulling engine and trans but have a ?

ok so i have everything disconnected and out of the way the only thing still attached is the drive shaft to the transfercase. I wanted to know can i just bungi cord the driveshaft up and pull the motor and the trans foward and will the slip yoke that goes into the transfercase just pull out ok or do i have to drop the whole driveshaft down and remove it before the pull. Any help would be great.

you can use a bungie on the ds. but i find it easier to just pull the transfer case out first so you don't have to mess with it while trying to pull it all out.

It is easier to take the transfer case out and then take out the motor.

ah ok so take off the trans case thats the 3 bolts top and bottom and it comes off toward the driver side right ?

there are 5 bolts that hold the transfercase to the trans and yea it comes off towards the driverside.

Just take the 5 bolts of the transfer case, then pull it off the tranny toward the driver's side. Then pull the transfer case toward the front of the car to take the driveshaft out of the t-case, tie the driveshaft up and you're done! It really is way easier to take the t-case out than keep it in and have more to work around.

Much easier to drop the t-case first for sure, you will need a big screw driver to pop it off the shaft, and watch your face because when that thing comes off, it comes off.

thanks guys well i went to drop the Tcase but whoever worked on this car before i bought it stripped out 2 of the bolts and i mean they are nearly round . so i went with plan B. was able to bungi up the shaft and pull the motor out foward worked good but i forgot to remove the stupid center beam that runs under the engine. was cursing up a storm trying to figure out why i could get the trans to clear the frame with the engine . but its all good now got it all out.
