Has anyone been pulled over for a loud bov? (NOT IN CALIFORNIA). I just installed an SSQV along with speed density so the bov is vented. It's Way louder than I expected. has anyone had problems? I'm already on thin ice with my exhaust.
 
Ha,i got pulled over once because my bov went off and the cop thought i squaked the tires. It was really hilarious trying to explain to him what it was. Ended up getting out of it though.
 
Just to not lift when you are by a cop... that way he will not hear the bov.
 
Many modifications that are changed from stock/factory parts are usually considered illegal in a lot of states. However, chances of you getting pulled over from a BoV are very very slim.

If you get pulled over, it'll usually mean you were driving like an dumb [insert word here ;x] to begin with. (no pun intended directly towards you, just in general)
 
When your driving on the street, you could simply turn down the boost pressure a little bit so it doesnt blow off so loudly when you suddenly let off the gas.

I've been pulled over lots of times just for owning a DSM. That was in my old '99RS. I guess it comes with owning an Eclipse that I'm always looking to street race anywhere, anytime, even in a non-turbo....:hmm::aha:

Well, I haven't been pulled over for no cat, 3" exhaust or anything here....so no I wouldn't worry about it. Even in strict places idk what a cop would even say to that

"Well sir, I hear your car is having a whistling problem, get that fixed"

I mess with this city cop for about a mile. just kept giving it to him in every gear. he ended up speeding away.
 
I have never heard of that, but if they have suspensions they can. They pulled a friend of mine over for going to slow, he blew an intercoller pipe off then wanst going the required 40 mph min speed. I told him he was retarded for trying to make it home with such a huge leak.
 
i assume they could if they really wanted to, if youre loading it up and showing off i could see an exhibition of speed ticket just as if you were revving your engine. dont drive like a retard and dont worry.
 
well I guess its an excuse to get a bigger turbo. right now i'm running a big 16g with a 14b hotside and I just put in a cyclone manifold. the thing is on boost almost all the time and feels very similar to the stock t-25. It's nice but the BOV blows almost every shift. o well i'll feel it out and see what happens if it bocomes a problem i'll fix it.

on a side note: covering an ssqv with a wool sock does nothing to dampen the sound, LOL :D blows off too around 20psi.
 
Ha, ive 'blown off' on a few cops cruising around...as long as your not being retarded, i dont think a cop is going to stop his 'busy' day to come pull you over.
 
If your building enough boost to blow off loud enough that you think you might get pulled over, your probably already going to get pulled over for something else.

Granted I can't see a cop ever pulling someone over for that. You guys make it seem like all every cop ever does is hand out tickets.

Big 16g with 14b hotside..That's kinda backwards isn't it..
 
It is LOL. i couldnt stand the slow spool of a b16g. but now with the cyclone and sd setup i think ill have no problem running the 7cm2 housing.

The odd think about my vented ssqv is even under just 1lb of boost its pretty loud. when i let off at 20 its deafening.
 
I am NOT a lawyer, nor am I providing council in any capacity. But this is your STATE MOTOR VEHICLE EQUIPMENT LAWS and Unlawful Modifications. CHAPTER 246* MOTOR VEHICLES Its a long list but could help you get out of a ticket. Upon review it looks like your ok and not in the wrong. I do much of my own legal defense when it comes to DMV or vehicle safety and traffic law violations. Just do your research and make your case. Most cops don't know all the legal from the illegal modifications. And they expect you not to know either. :sneaky: I was pulled over for a boost leak:hmm: enough said. ROFL

You have issues if you think a b16g has slow spool. They hit full boost under 3500 Rpms even with cams. Why are you venting? It makes your car run like ass. Are you trying to make your car sound cool sO everyone knows you have a turbo? Recirculate it like it was and the car will run properly and not get you attention from cops.
Oh and FYI I would do a search on the cyclone mani. Your going to have to figure out a actuator setup for it. It's been proven it doesn't really benefit much for the work needed to make it work. It's just more to say you have one. Don't expect huge gains from it.

He's running SD, he doesn't need to vent nor does recirculating with a SD setup offer any real performance.... some debate that it actually takes away from performance.

I could see that from a huge rush of air hitting the intake charge from the side :hmm:. I can't imagine it would be much, but it might be something.
