Projector lights with HID's

i just bought a pair of headlights and have HID's in them but the only problem is that they shine straight to the ground. how do i adjust them?


these are the ones i bought

There is a philips head screw that adjusts them up and down from the back, its hard to get at with them installed on the car though so your going to want to use one of those stubby screwdrivers.

ok, so i got the lights in and they worked. I went to adjust the passenger side because they were aimed to the floor, and fixed it to where they were supposed to be. when i did the drivers side, i think i might have bumped the ballast and it could have gotten shortened out because that side no longer works. I tried different ballast and nothing changed. I even tried different harnesses and still nothing. Anyone know something that i dont?

Did it work before or have you not been able to get that side to come on at all?

it worked before i started to adjust the lights

Check fuses and the HID bulbs themselves is all I got then if you already swapped ballasts and you had it working before, this is exactly why you don't make the adjustments with power applied...

can someone take a picture of what screw adjusts them? i have the same problem with my projectors, except i dont see an adjuster screw. only phillips head screw i see is the one that holds the HID light in.

Yea, that philips head holds it in and its also threaded. Turn it to the right raises the projector housing and turning it to the left lowers it...

there are 2 screws holding it in, which one do i turn? or should it not matter

tricky..mine doesnt have a screw on top. i took 2 pics of the only screws there are on my headlights. ill be mad if these arent adjustable, cus they literally face directly down, part of the front bumper gets lit up!
anyway, im gonna post the pics soon.

same here, but they dont seem to come out? they move, but its like they arent threaded, they just keep spinning without moving..

Ive got an idea for all of you trying to adjust your eBay HID's. Since hardly any pair of these things are alike adjusting them is going to be different as well. What I do know is that if you've got a philips screw on the back of them its typically the adjustment screw so you can move the beam up or down. Since none these projectors housings are the same and if you have two screws on the back of them you can't be 100% sure which one is which. Drive your car close to a wall and turn on your headlights with you HID projectors installed. Take a piece of tape and mark on the wall where the TOP of the cutoff on the beam is. Now shut off the lights and disconnect your battery ground (don't want to short anything out here) and make adjustments. If you have (2) screws on yours and you aren't sure which one adjusts the beam then turn one on the driver side and the other screw on the passenger side. Reconnect the battery and turn on the headlights checking to see which side moved up or down relative to the tape you put up on the wall or garage door.

Good to go?

Some of you amaze me... I made a drawing so there is no more confusion as to how this works, the screws ARE NOT supposed to come out thats why they are called adjustment screws.

Lol alright man chill out...I'm pretty positive you weren't sure how something worked the very first time you experienced it. I just got confused because yes everyone's are different. Thanks for the diagram though.

I guess I'm more of a "hands on" learner, when I couldn't figure out how to adjust my crappy eBay projector lights I baked them in the oven and pulled them apart. Thats why I knew how to draw that!
