not sure if this is the right area to post this question but im sorry..

yesterday i installed HID's in my fog lights, hooked everything up.. everything went smoth. started the car, hit the lights... the headlights stayed on, the fog lights went on for 5 seconds then shut off.. checked the fuse, it was blown. then i checked all the wiring and everything was ok.. but the fuse kept blowing.. any idea of why it is doing this?

Yeah your fuse isn't big enough. HID kits WILL pull double to tripple the amount of current they said to ignite the blub. So if it's rated at 10amps it might pull 20 or 30 in the beginning. Try a bigger fuse and see if it works.

I would highly recommend to upgrade your wiring before it melts your entire harness like it did to mine.

I was also asking Gamble97 as well, because his is actually working correct? Anyhow, the HID company I'm considering is mobilehid.com They've submerged their ballasts underwater and beat it with the hammer on video, and sell kits for under $170.

Which kit are you using? Did you properly ground the lights using a larger gauge wire? DO NOT substitute a larger fuse as a bandage for your problem, you're asking for melted wires when you do this. If I were you, just run a relay to the fog lights, this way you don't risk anything.

fyi, I have 2 kits from sharphid and they're freakin awesome.

blcknspo0ln, great information.. would u go further on how to put a relay on the fogs, and if u have them in ## fog lights.. what wire did you put the ground on? also another thing, would it be because i need the battery/capaciter kit from sharp?

oh ya. i have the Apexcone 50w HID Conversion Kit - Lifetime Warranty! race series :thumb:

Well, I have an HID set I bought 4 years ago when they were hard to find in the US and they're still effective and have never given me any issues. I'm just looking for an HID set for my OEM foglight location preferably in amber, since there are sooooo many available nowadays under $200. I'm just trying to find a reputable company that offers it and am also helping DSMinnOvatiOns in maybe finding a brand that works. By the way, I believe he posted that he is using the HID's where yours were purchased from. Are one of the sets you purchased installed for your foglights? Just trying to clarify your post.

yes i bought two kits.. one kit for the headlights and the other for my fog lights. The fog lights are the ones that i am having an issue with.. however i am really happy with the company and there products.. the headlights work great and i love them:thumb:

It's really only 4 wires. I forget the orientation off of the top of my head (look it up!) but it's

1 - relay ground wire (ground to chassis)
2 - signal positive wire (from foglight harness)
3- signal negative wire (ground wire from harness)
4- positive/power out (connect to postive of HID harness)

then just ground the wire from the HID harness

how would i go about attaching a relay to the HID's.. im pretty sure the fogs already have a relay attached to it already in the fuse box.. is that what you are talking about?

Better yet, is there a schematic diagram that someone has made to make things more clear on how to properly do this? I too am interested. Thanks in advance.

:thumb:Fix the lights last night at my buddies shop.. we installed a relay on the two lights with thicker gauge wire and waa-laa.. it works..

WOAH!!!!

Just do not go throwing a higher amp fuse in there, that's not a way to solve electrical problems, it's a way to cause more of them though.
You need to build a relay harness for your HIDs. You can buy one online also if you are not too comfortable with building one.

since we are on the topic already, Any ideas on HID's for a 95 Talon?? I'm moving to the city pretty soon, but I'm still in Illinois. Lots of deer. Trying to avoid hitting one. Also looking for ideas on the foglights. I've got the oem Talon glass foglights. Thanks.

I won't harp on it because no one listens but HID kits are illegal. Unless the car came OEM with it, it's illegal and unsafe. The correct way is to do an HID retrofit but that takes time and money.

If you must have a kit, google retro solutions.
