Ok I know that there is many thread that have to do with HID's in projectors but they are all about the cheap ebay projectors and how its better to retro fit them. I might get some APC projectors and was wondering if I needed to retrofit these too since they are not the cheap knock off ones? They are originally 400 new so I would think they would be good enough projectors to run HID's in them without needing it but I just want to see if anyone has any experience with them? They are the dual projectors and would be buying the kit from sharp hid.

I'm running ebay projectors on my 1998 Dodge Ram. The truck has a 3" lift on BFG 33" Mud Terrains, and never once has someone flashed me. I have a 6000k HID in them, the cutoff is extremely sharp, and the beam is focused well. A real HID projector does a much better job, but these fit the bill just fine. My 06 EVO MR's output didn't even compare to this setup. The key here is correct adjustment. I also don't notice any eye strain at night that is also common with inferior projector beam focus. I can't really speak for the APC units however.

Ya I just don't want to buy the nicer projectors to just tear them apart and do the same exact thing with them as I would if I bought the cheap ebay ones.

Has anyone used the dual projector without HID's? Maybe they are bright enough that I won't need the HID's, but still wondering if anyone has tried HID's in their projector?

Well I decided to get them and ended up getting them for 155. I like the way the lights look and seem to have a good cutoff so I am going to buy the HID kit from sharp HID. Only thing is with these headlights, there is a small gap between the headlight and the fender but im going to just buy a thicker piece of rubber and glue it to the rubber already on the headlight to take up the room. Let me know what you think.

I think you should be more concerned w/ that blue exhaust manifold...but all that aside:

$400 APC projector headlights are no different than $200 APC projector headlights. They're the same thing, you're just handing over extra money. If that makes you feel better, feel free to paypal me an extra $200 every time you purchase something for your car. :sneaky:

The HIDs will work flawlessly in aftermarket projector housings, however.

Well for one my exhaust manifold is ceramic coated blue so I don't see having to worry about that :ohdamn:

And if you read my 3rd post, I got them for 155 so pretty much the same price as egay ones, but they are actually good projectors. Anything else you want to call me out on that I need to correct you on?

I just had to give you shit about the blue manifold, really, especially since it's on a red car. It's your mani (and car), not mine. And good for you for getting a decent deal...just wanted to point out the (originally) flawed thinking that plagues most people. Well...most people that aren't DSMers, since most of us are a bunch of cheap bastards. Myself included. ;)
