Problems with my rear end.

I just bought a 1g talon and the rear end is acting funny. Sometimes when I put it in gear it will click once. Also when I drive at low speeds and turn the wheel the rear tires sound like they squeel. It happens real bad in reverse. Also the car sets wierd. It does not seem to set straight. Like the back end will lean(slightly) one way or another. What do yall think?

If you have a limited slip rear differential, it could be binding up. Possible due to wrong fluid or mechanical problem. ETC. The click could be the drive system loading up. Since there's two axles, transfer case, drive shaft and rear diff. I liken it to a 4wd pickup clunking when put in gear.

I've seen this car. I'm sure anyone here would give your money back.

I think it is a more serious problem Rick. If you have the time I'll take you for a ride and show you. It is just strange and makes me feel unsafe. Alvie said he thinks it might be halfshafts. You are the 1g dsm man I should just take it to you and pay you for once

I had a rear axle break inside the diff housing and it gave me these same symptoms. Good luck with it.

Here are a couple of pics. See the tire lean on the drivers side? What can cause this? Everything looks fine under the car.

I jacked the car up and took a real good look under there and the only thing I found is that one of the rubber boots on the drivers side axel mooves. The axel doesnt move but the boot does. It also has a zip tie on the end insead of a metel band. Could this be my problem? I dont know much when it comes to trannys and axels so I could use some help. Also when I spin one tire the oppsite tire spins in the oppsite direction. Is that supposed to happen?

Yes, your tires are supposed to spin in the opposite direction. It looks like you have a bad axle bearing. With the tire leaning that far, it may have messed up the housing as well. The bearing is cheap but you need a press to put it in.

I had aq friend look at the car and he thinks it might be the alinement. When I get my new rotors in I will take it to the shopand get the alinement done. I think I will also puet new fluid in the dif. If anyone else has anyother Ideas let me know. I might take the axles out when I do the rotors just to take a look and check out the berrings.

I went to go get the alinement done the other day and they could only correct it so far. It still squeels when I turn. They said the bushings in the were frozen and only let you adjust it so far. To me this sounds funny. If the bushings were frozen they shouldn't be able to adjust it at all right? Anyone know where I can get bushings for the camber and the tow? I really need to get this thing inspected. Is it hard to swap the bushings out? Sorry for all the questions but I dont know a whole lot about this stuff.

Well looking into this more I think I am going to replace all the bushings in the car. Does anybody have a good website that sells a poly. bushing kit got 1g awd's? I havent had any luck at sbr or ci. Any help would be cool.
