Problems with clutch install

I just did a 2600 install on my 2g awd. anyway i put everything back together started the car and pushed the clutch pedal in to find that it felt like i was pushing through a wall. i knew something was wrong right away. i got under the car and the slave cyclinder pin was pushed all the way out and had locked itself. i pulled the slave off to find that it had just over extended. so i wondered why. I pushed the shift fork and i can push it towards the driver side with little resistance when i try pushing it the other way it just stops. i would think that at some point when moveing the shift fork i should be pushing against the clutch and still be able to continue pushing and disengage the clutch. right? anyway the clutch wont disengage. anyone have any ideas?

You could never disengage the clutch with the fork by hand. That's why it takes your foot and a hydraulic system.
