hey guys--- i just had my clutch installed at the mitsu dealer over here, (ACT2600lb clutch kit... stock flywheel resurfaced) when i first started driving the car it was fine, the clutch pedal engaged after about 2 inches off the floor (normal) ... after about 15 miles, it was engaging higher and higher up... as i drove more the clutch pedal engaged higher, almost to a point where the pedal could not go any higher--- anyway, the dealer says they bled the lines, adjusted the pedal properly... when the car has been sitting undriven, the clutch pedal acts normal (2 inches off the floor) after i drive and after every shift, it seems to be engaging higher and higher--- any ideas ??? (by the way, i have a new master and slave clutch cylinder, so that cant be my problem...) let me know what you guys think... :dsm:

Sounds to me like there is still air in the lines as "pumping" the pedal is making your clutch engage sooner. Check you Clutch Master Cyl fulid level and look for oil residue at the fittings of it and the slave cylinder (mounted on the transmission itself). The bleed screw is on the Slave Cyl, so is also possible they did not tighten it.

Once you get that fixed have them readjust the clutch master cyl rod for the correct pedal engagement height :dsm:

The dealer is responsible for the labor
They sure are, but in practice I've found that when it comes to non-OEM parts, they will place blame on it and not their own work :notgood:

Best bet is to "Tell" them what is wrong instead of telling them something is wrong (i.e. blind them with the truth) ;) :dsm:

I hope this helps many people, besides yourself. I have a ACT 2600 with streetlite flywheel and I can tell you that without a doubt I and 6 other people in just my local area have had this exact problem. I have replaced everything ...in the search for this problem.Turns out it is a bad throw out bearing that comes from ACT. If you look closely at the one they send you, it has an anomoly on the inside of it...A pit in the metal if you will. Replace it with a NEW stock throw out bearing and your problem will be resolved. Why is this the problem you ask? ....the pit on the inside of the T.O. bearing binds on the shaft, causing the pedal to feel stiffer and stiffer....any other questions specifically about this problem ..... feel free to PM me.

i went down to Road Race Engineering a couple of days ago, and asked them about my problem, and i was advised to check on the flywheel... when i changed the clutch and took the flywheel to get resurfaced, the guy told me it was the absolute last time this flywheel is salvagable, meaning it was pretty messed up, but can be resurfaced and used for 1 last time... the guy at RRE told me this is the reason i have an inconsistant clutch pedal... he recommended getting a new flywheel... does this sound legit to you guys? thanks :dsm:

What you are suffering from is "2g pedal pump up" Read about it here It is near the bottom of the page.

Just a note, this "pump up" potential applies to all hydraulic clutch systems, including the 1G.
