Well, if any of you have followed my postings or blogs or whatever, you know I did a rebuild on my engine. It's all back in and running, but it's idleing at 3k rpm and sometimes higher. I know this is something bad. I had a vacuum leak on the throttle body which I have repaired, but it's still bad. Had an idea though. The clutch makes this weird binding sound when I release the clutch pedal, and sometimes it's still there when the pedal is pressed to the floor. When I'm slowing down, the only way to keep the rpms down at 1500-2000 rpms is to let up on the pedal half way. I decided to leave it in gear while keeping the pedal at this position and turned it off. It was hard to pull the shifter out of gear when off, but it came out. Is it possible that the high idle is because the clutch isn't fully disengaging??? Also when driving at about 30-40 mph, the car practically drives itself like the cruise control is activated, yet it's not. Yet another reason for the clutch idea. I got a new idle air control motor that I can install, but really don't think that's the issue. There might be more little symptoms going on that I'm forgetting, but my brain hurts right now so I'll leave this post as is. All ideas welcome..:idontknow:

check your throttle cable it could be holding the throttle open a little

Not a bad idea :hmm:, but I know for sure it's not the throttle cable. I've had it loose and at the normal position and still have the idle problem. Even had the problem when I was moving the throttle plate by hand and made sure it was fully closed, by hand. Still bad idle.

So I've talked to a couple friends about this issue with my idle problem, and one of them asked if all the vac lines wereput back on in the right spots. So thanks to the massive amounts of reference pics I've taken on this build, and my last turbo DSM, I have found out that I have the EGR solinoid vac line and EVAP solinoid line swapped on the throttle body. I won't be home til later tonight, so I won't know til then for sure, but could that be a significant enough cause for the excesive idle? I got rid of my air leak on the throttle and it didn't help drop the idle.

Well, that didn't help. Now that I checked and turned it off, it won't start now. The lights on my stereo flicker and there's a a rough humming sound of some sort along with a clicking noise coming from the engine bay. I'm getting so sick of this crap not working.................................... :banghead:
